AoY Podcast #169 – Belated 10th Anniversary Podcast Special

This show has: “Are you going to play some showtunes to me and scare me?”

and also: “The Worm…. is Life!”

Download Episode HERE! (Total Time: 2:34:16)

This should’ve came out 2 months ago, but it didn’t, but better late than never. 10 years of doing this podcast, like dang. It’s the ususal fare that we’ll treat this as our holiday/general discussion episode with a minor review thrown in. So here we go.

(0:00 – 59:00) The blabbling of blabblers that like to blabble 2023 Edition: We’re going all over the map in this episode, so just chill out and enjoy. There’s plenty to talk about that happened the last two months of 2022. So we got our hot takes on when Vic Mignogna didn’t wear pants to a stream and the crazy VA’s that had their opinions on that, Ye on Alex Jones , American Political Redneck drama in the House / Midterms, the Dan Crenshaw/Solidus Snake conspiracy, and much more

(59:00 – 2:34:16) A “no craps given” Review of Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park / Christmas talk blabbling: I think Jonn and Dustin spend about a total of 10 minutes talking about this forgotten Kiss movie, which gets wrangled in with Limited Run Games drama. Then this goes into how our Christmas went with Jonn talking about Lupin the Third films, David Lynch filmogrophy, our thoughts on book-to-movie adaptations, fansub/anime licensing talk, and much more. Dustin goes on to say how his Christmas was filled with busted pipes and overtime because Hell froze over and came to South Carolina during Christmas, along with seeing NC State lose yet ANOTHER bowl game, and seeing a dead body in ATL on New Years Eve. All this and more in this episode…

Music Selection:

ED – 10 long years of podcasting is quite a price to pay…

AoY Podcast #158 – Berserk Review Part II

This show has: “I think its just Catholic, not Catholicistic.”

Download Episode HERE! (Total Time: 1:55:17)

We’re a little bit late than we wanted, but here we are in our final installment of our Berserk coverage of the 2016 and 2017 series. Oh yea, E3 was this year, and it sucked, and we talk about that too.

(0:00 – 34:15) E3 2021 Review – Nothing really much to say, because nothing really happened. A new Halo, some talk from a company about diversity in the gaming industry, you know the hard hitting stuff every gamer really cares about, right? In terms of games the company that showed up was Limited Run Games, which Dustin talks why everyone should get everything Zombies Ate My Neighbors from them. Its a great game BUY IT!!! This also talks about Dustin still working on the old Initial D cabs, how LRG has the rights to Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties, and much more!

(34:15 – 1:55:17) Review: Berserk 2016/2017 – This finalizes what has been animated so far from Miura series, and Jonn and Dustin are there to share their thoughts on the series. This gets into Japanese censorship for nudity, bad CGI shows and Max Steel, the best review of Species 2, manga talk, the great failings of Tokyopop, internet drama and much more.

Just a heads up, make sure to check out Trigun ReAnimate, a collaborative project to reanimate the Trigun intro.

Music:

OP – Best opening to an anime should be a song from Clerks…

ED – Here’s a band that writes music about Berserk…

This show has:

Yea for real, I had the same reaction as well…

Totally a product of its time…

GET IT WHILE YOU CAN!!

Download Episode HERE! (Total Time: 04:15:04)

In true AoY podcasting tradition, when episodes keep piling up, it’s time to bundle them all together a-la Thanksgiving Special! Were gonna give you listeners a 3-in-1 Bundleru special with Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Dragonball Super, and Primal!

(0:00 – 01:04:00) Serving #1: A Stand Alone Complex (sorta) Review – Everything in this write-up was written sometime last month, but better late than never. This review is more of a revelation on what Dustin has been missing out on for the past 15 years by finally getting around to watching both Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex series. We cover what we can remember of the show, so expect there to be some spoilers afoot. This also gets into where in the hell Jonn was recording from in GodKnowsWhere, Texas, how Smore and their treatment of Galaxy Express 999, how Hash is a terrible Southern Delight, LIVE USER FAN MAIL!, and much more…

(34:20 – 45:40) “Hold On! I’ll call your right back!” Music Interlude – Jonn spirit journey was cut short and he cut out from the call, so DJ ZeekDaPhreek steps up to play 80’s metal music like Judas Priest and W.A.S.P.

(01:04:00 – 02:02:07) Closing Remarks 1 – This consists of Dustin saying goodbye to a very close friend, RIP Robert Axelrod, SouthEast Gaming Expo talk, changes in podcast hosts over at the ANNCast, #KickVic court discussion, how AniTubers are trash and much more…

(02:02:07 – 02:59:50) Serving#2: The overly late Halloween Special that is now a Thanksgiving Special – Primal and Dragonball Super – Primal is by far the best thing Tartakovsky has done, although Samurai Jack fans will beg to differ with that statement, but screw em! After discussing how great of show with the least amount of episodes shown so far, we then go into DB Super with a longer amount of episodes show that still had a good story in the end. This also goes into Dragonball in general and much more!

(02:59:50 – 04:15:04) Closing Remarks 2 – This includes the #KickVic/WeebWarz saga, Dustin part of Bmar Ghost Trolling Colab 3, Middle East politics and politics all around, Trolling AOC at a Town Hall, The American Moloch religion, Timbox new movie script Tim Zarus, Jonn internet acting crappy, Bible/Catholic talk and much more!

Good stuff from Justin Sevakis…

(0:00 – 54:40) E3 Talk – With the absence of Sony showing up, Dustin and Jonn took this year as a sign of “why should we even care?” But of course, there was some good to come from E3. This also goes into discussion about Final Fantasy 7 and the Final Fantasy world, Dustin views on Halo, Jonn mentions Harlan Ellison legacy, salty Power Rangers fans, upcoming game titles were looking forward too and much more!

AoY Podcast #136 – Merry Con-Mas Special (Animazement / AWA 2018)

Also known as: “When am I going to get me a Nice Pair of Shoes!!!”

And also: “And there gonna air, Boruto… Bourto… Believe it Jonn, Belieeeeeeve IT!”

Download Episode HERE! (Total Time: 4:29:48)

It’s per tradition that we release convention reports half a year after the con happened, because oh freaking well. So if your wanting someone to drone on about their time at a con that you weren’t at during a long holiday flight or drive, we got your covered!

(0:00 – 1:34:15) Animazement 2018 Con Report – Dustin regales his tale of a con that happened when the weather was a whole lot warmer, where the first time in years he is a regular con lackey roaming the hallways and not dealing with patrons in the dealers room. Stories can be told about hanging out with other Otaku he’s know about online and their posse, Dustin old parking job and the economics surrounding that industry, modifying your SNES, getting sweet swag from Limited Run Games on a yearly visit, trying to talk to women at the bar with a Salvador Dali art work on their back, the dreaded bootleg dealer came back, rednecks whining about stuff they don’t have in public restaurants, drunken dads that roam the cons and more. This also includes how we thought the Starbucks training lead to other problems, seeing a Steely Dan/Doobie Bros concert in Atlanta, video game and anime talk, and much more.

(1:34:15 – 02:25:29) Closing Remarks Part 1 – This is just the opinions of ours relating back in May, that people have already forgotten about but ohwellwhocaresanyways. This includes televangelists who buy jets in the name of Jesus and Christianity talk, hot takes on the news, how Rosanne got cancelled and much more.

(02:25:29 – 04:03:30) Anime Weekend Atlanta 2018 Con Report – If anything was lacking from Animazement, AWA made that up tenfold. Dustin recants his experience by hanging out with his buddy downtown to ride on electric scooters after eating some Pho’King amazing food, getting the correct panelist badge, meeting with old friends, meeting cool people like Tim Eldred, Micheal Sinterniklaas, Darius Washington and Andy Field, talking about panels done at the convention (which were titled Anime in High Gear, Christianity in Anime and Mobile Suit Gundam in America), buying Neil Nadelman old Gundam laserdiscs, getting the sweet hookup on Voltes V from Dave Merrill, getting to meet the Corn Pone man himself in person, people who have seizures at the con and how the staff handles that proper, Is Daryl Surat a Pokemon Seizure Episode Denier that it was ALL A CONSPIRACY? and more.

(04:03:30 – 04:29:48) Closing Remarks Part 2 – Somehow we get into closing remarks territory with the past pre-hearing of the Kavanaugh case, banned episodes of Pokemon, general anime and politics talk, people who had complaints on panels at AWA from an alt-right perspective and more.

Music Selection:

OP – Night Trap theme, just because…

ED – The Southern Cons shall Rise AGAIN!

ED – Boruto is on Toonami, BELIEVE IT!!!!

This show has:

Trust me, it really is this good…
