Ok, so here’s the deal guys: This con was back in April of this year, so almost 4 months ago, and Zeonic is NOW getting this report out towards the end of the summer. I am sure there was ample time to for him to put something out between now and then, but he didn’t, and he really doesn’t care. Zeonic can’t blame this one on procrastination (well, maybe a little bit) because hey, if you check on what came out between now and April, we have had a full plate on talking about a variety of things that has happened. So without further ado, here is what Zeonic thought about Nashicon. (WARNING: THE AUDIO SUCKS IN THIS!)
(0:00 – 35:00) The beginnings of a Convention Report: NashiCon: Being how this is Zeonic 3rd year to attend NashiCon, it is an improvement from last years venue he must say. With a kicking game room done by the people who do the game rooms for Animazement, actual guest like Robert Axelrod and Lisle Wilkerson to attend this year and panels of interest to go too, this has gone up in quality to his con standards (I guess I can’t talk to much there.) This also gets Zeonic to talk about an “obscure” anime panel that he believed had anything to do with obscure anime, getting to know artist alley girls by their mention of Kawajiri anime to start a conversation with, talking about the game room, discussion of the LejiVerse, which diverts to…
(35:00 – 55:40) AN INCOHERENT SEGUE TO GENERAL VIDEO GAME TALK: Yep, we spend this time talking about video games because we can. This went to talking about game systems, how Zeonic spent money on a Wii that is just and emulation device now, android games that lets you see the world, some youtube troll personality, Sonic talk, Shenmue discussion and probably some more. But when Zeonic went to mention Lisle Wilkerson…
(55:40 – 1:18:37) The failed attempt to finish a Convention Report: NashiCon: Both Zeonic and Jonn were able to get it together and complete the task before them, which is just more discussion of talking about people at the con and con life I guess you can say. This did talk about people with signs at the con, what Zeonic got at the con (which was talk of Cosmo Police Justy in America. Here is a link to ebay on what people want for the Justy VIZ print these days), 90’s Nickelodeon show talk, and more stuff I cannot really remember, which there was more to mention.
Links to stuff I mentioned in this episode (if you couldn’t make it out):

This was a review that was a long time coming, which this seems to be the most appropriate time to cover it. After making its mark in Japanese theaters on July 7th 1984, this has been a movie that fans have grown to love and appreciate over the years. From the die hard of them all to the young at heart, Macross has left an impressionable mark in animation going back to the early 1980’s. And what better way for there to be a retelling of a series than with Super Dimensional Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love? I should note, we mostly stay on topic, if that means anything to you listeners.
Review: SDF Macross: Do You Remember Love? This film is a piece that, from the hardcore to the intermediate of anime fans, need to see once in their lives. This film is so powerful, that not even companies can obtain the full rights to it on both sides of the globe, which has been in constant legal battle since it’s creation so long ago. Even so, many people who worked on this film and were involved have made a name for themselves in the anime industry since then. So, what better way for Zeonic and Jonn to give a “semi” spoiler free (you heard right!) discussion on this film as a whole, where they both talk mostly about the history of this film and those who worked on it; and how it’s been distributed across the globe. This also gives Zeonic and Jonn a chance to discuss Macross and Robotech in the states, which was able to leave such a major mark in shaping anime fandom to where it is today. This also has them talking about their experiences seeing this movie for the first time, the legal issues surrounding the movie and the television series over the years, Harmony Gold rantings, bootleg anime talk, Gamestop/EB Games talk, the current issues with Let’s Plays, and much more. Also, CLASHING OF THE ZINGEROIDS SOUNDS! at the end.
Here are some versions on Youtube (as of now) that you can see this movie:

AoY Podcast #46 – The Universal Space Dandy Studios, Baby! (Universal Studios/Space Dandy Review)

Also known as: “…and then you get to hear… BLOOOOOOOOONDEEEEEEEEEEEEEY”
Download Episode HERE! (Total Time: 2:09:12)
Now that summer is upon us, Zeonic has quite the backlog of episodes he is currently going through between finishing school and going places. This recording was done about 3 months ago with our Megazone 23 reviews, and we now finally have the time to get it out there. Zeonic and his family were able to check out Universal Studios in Orlando FL. (aka the home turf of some big name podcast out there) during his spring break back in March, and the gang had time to discuss Space Dandy season one, which has already ended months ago with season two just now starting on Toonami.
(0:00 – 1:05:21) The Universal Studios Spring Break Trip (aka freaking Florida): After not stepping foot into the least favorite state known to exist, Zeonic is able to tread back to a tourist attraction that he hasn’t seen in almost a decade up to this point in time. Zeonic could say that nostalgia played a role in his enjoyment of revisiting the park, but also the current status of his age got the better of him just as well. Trying out the attractions of young and old between Shrek 3D, Transformers the Ride, Springfield, Harry Potter, Terminator 2 3D and Twister; some feel like they can hold up on their own, and some need to fade away, while others are just a sick joke to be in. Also, being able to have a childhood dream fulfilled, Zeonic was able to grant closure to the inner 8 year old inside him 20 years later; aka Jurassic Park. This was also full of what counts as a racist comment, people who are too old to act like horny 16 year olds, how 4 letters define a generation, Jurassic Park movie discussion, getting sick off Flor-Mex food and much more.
(1:05:21 – 1:07:01) Podcast Promo’s: This time we get more publicity for Alpha Counter, and Dave and Joel from Fast Karate tell it to you straight behind the secrets of Masamune Shirow.
(1:07:01 – 2:09:12) Review – Space Dandy Season 1: With Season 2 Episode 2 of Space Dandy just airing this past week by the time this episode comes out, we were able to reflect our thoughts and discuss the episodes of Space Dandy. Space Dandy is a show that when anime is done right, it’s done like Space Dandy… Baby! If you care to see what Ben Ettinger from Ani-Pages has to say about Space Dandy, and its core component of the shows animation, then check that out. This also gets us talking about the dark days of Toonami’s block, a deep discussion about Rurouni Kenshin (well more like a mini review kinda), what the ani-twitters/ani-tumblrs have to complain about Space Dandy, and much more.
Music Selection:
OP 1 – Get ready, for the ride of your life…
ED 1 – The sound of my employment hell…
OP 2 – This intro is just so Dandy!
ED 2 – Get into this dandy groove ya’ll…

AoY Podcast #43 – Gundam Month The Fourth: Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn Ep 7: “Over the Rainbow” Review
Also known as: “That must be the worst kind of hell ever to chase after Lalah forever…”
Download Episode HERE! (Total Time: 1:16:03)
Well, this is going to conclude our Gundam Month segment for quite a while, until there is new Gundam to come out to talk about. After over three years of podcast’s between different names and people, we are here to finally finish out our Gundam Month segments; as we dive into the newtype rainbow of Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn Episode 7: Over the Rainbow.
Gundam Unicorn 7 was able to answer some questions to a lot of Gundam fans as to “kinda” tell what happens after Char’s Counterattack, as we discuss the events and story behind this final OVA spanning over 4 years now. You can expect to find giant mobile armors with TONS AND TONS OF GUNS EVERYWHERE, newtype acid trips, newtype ghosts, colony lasers, and how newtypes were destined to have political positions. We were able to have Andy from the Daily Anime Podcast join us to talk about this OVA, which got us to talk about the new Godzilla movie in the beginning of this recording, angry autistic’s on tumblr, autistic’s against Funimation getting Gundam, catching Andy up on our favorite LolCow, us bro’s having bro crushes on Suichi Ikeda, (I ment to say George Washington not Thomas Jefferson for those history people out there, my bad), how smoking is an issue in Universal Century (the quote is found somewhere on this page but I’ll post the quote after this paragraph), bad writers and more general Gundam talk plus more than that.
Here is the quote Jonn used in his closing remarks: “The poison called tobacco, which was once almost extinct in the old ages, still lingered in the days of Universal Century 0096. This was the result of tobacco quality improving as a result of the space age, like the reduction of tar to reduce the negative effects on the human body and the intricate machines, and the development of chemicals that combust at low temperatures in tobacco, but most people felt that the biggest reason for the revival of tobacco was the One Year War.”
Music Selection:
OP – We go over the rainbow and beyond with this Gundam OVA
ED – You can try and connect the rainbows all day, but you still might end up with nothing

AoY Podcast #42 – Gundam Month The Fourth: Gundam Mixbag Special (00/SDGF/Age/Build Fighters/etc Review)
Also known as: “God forbid if we are ever compared to Colony Drop”
and also: “Oh, because he said the word ‘Armed Intervention'”
Download Episode HERE: (Total Time – 1:21:00)
Alright, so here’s the deal guys: We decided to cut our losses and say “screw it” for this episode, as we figured it was the best plan of action to combine all of the other AU Gundam shows we care the least about and put them all in one episode since we all are gonna be busy for the next few weeks that will take us away from recording. So we decided to put the past decade’s worth of Gundam shows into one episode with Gundam 00, SD Gundam Force, Gundam Age, Gundam Build Fighters and Gunpla Builders Beginning G.
0:00 – 58:35: We decided to review in this way because most of the shows listed is stuff we have seen before, but cannot remember most of it since we do not have the luxury of time to go back and re-watch all of them. So consider what we have to say about these shows as a “condensed review,” instead of our usual fare of going into grand detail and spoiling stuff (oh wait never mind, we do that in this episode as well.) We roughly spend a few minutes on each show, but spent most of the time I think on Gundam 00 talk and Gundam Build Fighters; because Build Fighters was recent and we want everyone to see it as it’s the next God Gundam show in this current decade.
58:35 – 1:21:00: Of course, we get side tracked a bit and go into discussion’s about the people against the Viz release of Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon in general, THE GREATEST VERSION OF SAILOR MOON IN HISTORY!, AUDIO ISSUES GALORE!!, discussing some of the “comments” we have received so far on our Gundam Seed review from last week, more Gundam talk thrown in and probably other weird and stupid things as well.
Music Selection:
OP – Bandai ploy to make their market of Gunpla into a pretty sweet TV series
ED – I want VIZ to obtain the rights to this version of Sailor Moon
Bonus – THAT’S IT, WERE DONE WITH THIS GUNDAM STUFF!!!!
This show has:
The ultimate version I demand every “fan” of Sailor Moon must have in their collection
Gundam Build Fighters before Gundam Build Fighters SOOOOOOONNN!
am enjoying the new Sailor Moon fandom crazyness. Takes me back to the 90s when a Sailor Moon cult reportedly existed in Conyers GA
— dave merrill (@terebifunhouse) May 20, 2014
@colonydrop the story was some wannabe cult leader was telling girls they were actually Sailor Scouts, or something.
— dave merrill (@terebifunhouse) May 20, 2014
right before AWA 3, the convention was mentioned by a radio DJ who also mentioned the “Sailor Moon cult”. Good advertising, I guess
