AoY Podcast #84 – Space Adventure Cobra: The Movie Review
Also known as: “All gay people are Cylons!!”
And also: “They couldn’t get any real Muslims, they had to do CGI ones?”

So its been about November since we reviewed any older anime, and it’s high time we bring that back to the listeners. This time, both hosts Dustin and Jonn hop aboard the Kamiya and set sail on a wild adventure with our favorite womanizing space explorer, in Space Adventure Cobra: The Movie.
(0:00 – 55:58) Review: Space Adventure Cobra: The Movie – This is a film both Dustin and Jonn have been looking at for a couple of years now to review, and now both host have finally set their eyes towards the galaxy of high anime adventure. This Cobra film was a blast from start to finish, and it never stopped anywhere for a second to slow down. Cobra wants to tell you a story and fully expects you to strap in and hold on from start to finish, all the while having a blast in the process. This is full of babes, guns, space, ice planets and people who CANT MAKE THAT SHOT! Both host go into the film from start to finish, but that shouldn’t sway your opinion to not watch this thing. There were some off-topic stops during the review about Dustin watching Space Pirate Captain Harlock on Hulu, Hulu vs. Netflix, CPF talks about the dubbing on Harlock, our co-host Josh and his snoring issues, discussing Cobra TV, manga and the movie, people who are terrible fansub groups, nipples in anime, MSNBC vs. ani-twitter and more.
(36:08 – 38:30) Podcast Promo’s – It’s been a while since the last time we added podcast promo’s, so we should again give credit where credit is due. Anime World Order has been on the podcast beat for 10 years now, and they decided to spend their episode talking about shows from last year, and a promise of a high speed drifting review coming next… maybe. Jeff from the Daily Anime Podcast last spent his episode talking to his girlfriend/aka Love Plus waifu jailbait. Seriously, Jeff don’t do that again, but you at least explained why you did it, but no more…. EVER AGAIN! Fast Karate came back to talk about games, and make fun of Edgar from 24, which made Dustin laugh the hardest at a Fast Karate episode for the first time in a couple of years. They also lasted 10 years, but that was months ago, so let’s move on.
(55:58 – 1:31:53) Closing Remarks – The review conversation naturally transitions into discussing people who can’t figure out voice actors, Dustin gives advice on how to make his girlfriend Dori into a Gundam fan, failed promoters for our podcast, Dustin turned 30 (i.e. his “otaku expiration date” has come and must be renewed) and celebrated the occasion by watching Logan’s Run, 70’s science fiction movies talk, we say RIP to Lemmy Kilmister, David Bowie, Alan Rickman and Glenn Frey, America and their “Fast and Furious” goof on El Chapo, Chris Chan news, people who are white knights for Chris at places that Dustin knew in Raleigh, and comic book store bathroom troubles. All this an much more in this weeks episode.
Music Selection:
OP – In a podcast review not too far, far away…
ED – RIP Glenn Frey…
This show has:

Micheal York might have a point about being 30…
Check out the Cobra English Pilot… pretty sweet stuff…
AoY Podcast #83 – Digimon Adventure Tri Review
Also known as: “Whats a guy like me gotta do to get some sex in his life?”
Download Episode HERE! (Total Time: 2:18:57)
For this week, we got a handful of people on to talk about the latest Digimon series. Dustin was absent from this episode (and this was recorded the night before our Star Wars review), but Jonn and returning guests Daft, Josh and Cloud spent their evening on the show to talk about Digimon Adventure Tri.
There is no need to bother with time codes in this episode, since it seems to be less about Digimon and more about the hosts ranting on every other nerdy fandom out there. If you want to experience total levels of nerdom from something out of Evan Dorkin’s The Eltingville Club “comic book realm of geekdom,” then this is your sanctum. Aside from discussing Digimon, the gang go into their abyss of opinions about the fall of 4Kids, comic book series and movies, people in the anime industry that would be in our old AIM chat rooms years ago (and how they were treated by some), Nickalodeon vs Cartoon Network scheduling wars, anime companies, people on the internet we know, Precure talk and so much more. There might be some audio issues certain sentences cutting out, and that is due to some glitches on audacity part, oh well. Originally this skype call went on for like 6 hours, but Jonn recorded up to 3 and I will use that later part on another recording down the road, so we’ll see.
Music Selection:
OP – We Try and stay on topic, but we couldn’t…
ED – Part of your childhood that won’t come back…
This show has:
Come on, you know this is what would happen if 4Kids got a hold of this show…
AoY Podcast #81: Merry Gund-amas Special (Gundam The Origin 2 OVA Review)
Also know as: “Alright page 5, GOD I GOTTA PISS!”
Download Episode HERE! (Total Time: 1:41:46)
Well it’s that time of the year again, where you’re flat broke from shopping from other people, and you have all that wrapping paper to pick up off the ground from your kids. We hope that this episode is the best gift you’ve gotten this year, because we decide to review the latest Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin – Artesia’s Sorrow OVA…
(0:00 – 51:42) Christmas Special Review – Gundam the Origin 2 OVA – We understand this anime came out back in October, and its only taken us now to finally sit down and review it. Our reason would be, its all Jonn Dustin fault, so there is someone to blame. We actually really liked this OVA, and are happy to see how well it will adapt the manga story, a manga story that Dustin is still reading, after having volume 5 for over a year. Will he ever finish it? Well, his lazy butt is on break, so there isn’t an excuse there. As much as our host try to stay on topic, dumb things keep coming up like talking about that crappy Yogi Bear movie, how FOX can’t make a good cartoon list, how we didn’t care about the internet opinions on Gundam the Origin, comparing real life events to Gundam, Resident Evil 4 talk, Gundam in general talk, Texan towns like Gun Barrel, DeKalb and O’Donnell, horse riding and country western talk, the Final Fantasy 7 remake, and much more.
(51:42 – 1:41:46) Closing Remarks – Dustin explains his reasoning (or lack thereof) for having a drunk podcast, Dragonball Z general summary, The GRAND RETURN OF GHOST!, Chris Chan demands an embargo on all Gamestop and Best Buy locations, Donald Trump vs. Ever Muslim Ever!, opinions on the Syrian Refugee issue, making movies for North Korea, Jonn grandmother passing, and much more.
Music Selecton:
OP – Our song to enjoy before ani-twitter shows up to ruin it…
ED – Gundam is the most Texan of Texan thing ever to be Texan…
This show has:
Yea, told you knight armor is a terrible way to hid yourself…
No Chris, a state wide ban WOULD be the BEST thing for you…
AoY Podcast #79 – Con-O-Ween Special (Comikaze & BanzaiCon 2015 Report)
Also known as: “Dude, it’s Ultraman, you know how to say it!”
Download Episode HERE! (Total Time: 2:05:27)
Halloween is celebrated differently by people every year. So what better way for the podcast hosts to have their own different Halloween experiences than to travel to different conventions across America. This time we have Dustin spending a few hours at Banzaicon, and Jonn spending the day at Comikaze.
(0:00 – 48:49) Con-O-Ween Part 1: Comikaze at Los Angeles, California – Jonn and his dad trekked from Arizona to the golden state to hit up Comikaze. Jonn talked about getting exhibitor passes from a local comic book shop, SJW tumblr hate speech, how Stan Lee promotes himself at his own con, the differences between comic vs. anime conventions, comic book vs. video game collecting, Jojo’s talk, partied out Ninja Turtles, the wrong directors for live action anime adaptations, anime to live action talk (mostly about Akira), Demon City Shinjuku, Harmony Gold hate, and much more.
(48:49 – 51:06) Podcast Promo’s – We want to give a personal shout out to Alpha Counter, as their latest episode #150 might be their final podcast episode. But in tribute to this, Dustin brought back an old friend to wish them a proper farewell. Fast Karate should be back eventually with new stuff, but not after streaming twitch things. Anime World Order decides that their next episode is to cover Initial D (“BUT WAIT DARYL, YOU TOLD ME YEARS AGO IN A PAST EPISODE COMMENTS THAT NO ONE ON THE AWO CREW WOULD EVER REVIEW INITIAL D BECAUSE YOU GUYS ALL HATED IT!! OH WAIT, SOMEONE PAID YOU TO REVIEW IT? NOW I SEE WHAT IT REALLY TAKES TO COVER SHUICHI SHIGENO GRAND MANGA MASTERPIECE CGI ANIMOO SERIES!!” – Inner 18 year old “die hard Initial D fanboy attitude” Dustin responding out of spite).
(51:06 – 1:36:50) Con-O-Ween Part 2: Banzaicon at Colombia, South Carolina – Across the great America’s, Dustin was taking his sweet time to get to Banzaicon, which resulted in describing what a convention looks like past 7:30 pm on a Saturday Halloween night. This of course contains how to sucker convince the con staff to let you and your “panelist” partner in for cheap, playing some well deserved Initial D, guests at the con that Dustin never saw, 1990’s USA Network cartoons, Ani-Monday talk, how to give a yaoi panel some late night competition, and much more.
(1:36:50 – 2:05:27) Closing Remarks – This just continues into Chris Chan PSA on Halloween trans talk, Dustin explains his experience with audibly reading the Lensmen series, Dustin jacks Golgo 13 M-16, book to movie adaptations, and much more.
Music Selection:
OP – It was the Con-Ster-Mash…

AoY Podcast #78 – Halloween Special 2015 (Amon: Apocalypse of Devilman Review)

and also: “Weeaboo the new N word…”

We figure this would be prompt and timely to release our Halloween special on the same day than for it to be later than that. As of this episode release, both host’s Dustin and Jonn are at their local conventions and will do a report on those in due time. So in order to keep up with tradition, the crew reviews Amon: Apocalypse of Devilman.
(0:00 – 27:30) Halloween Special – Amon: Apocalypse of Devilman Review: If you couldn’t tell from our spoilers from last years Halloween special (if anyone reading this even knew or listened to it), we keep up with our yearly tradition to bring on more Go Nagai Devilman goodness. We probably thought we were gonna do the Devilman TV series at the beginning of the year, but neither host owns the DVD set from Discotek, so screw it, that didn’t happen either. We pretty much run through this anime to talk about the horrors of post-apocalypse Japan, but Dustin couldn’t say to much because he didn’t want to attract too much attention to himself in his school cafeteria when this recording happened, because both hosts thought it was a great idea to record a podcast in a university cafeteria one Tuesday afternoon, to talk about Devilman of all the anime to mention in a public setting. Needless to say, he didn’t get kicked out for reviewing Devilman. We also mention how we saw this on Youtube from the worst translator on the planet, talking about what our buddy Cloud posted on our chat in the middle of recording, and how you should check out the One Pixel Jump review of Devilman as well.
(27:30 – 1:09:48) Closing Remarks: For some reason, the racist on Twitter wanted to get mad at the new Star Wars film because of their white male insecurities, which led to Jonn and Dustin talking about the Star Wars series in general. This also got them to talk about the HOT OFF THE PRESSES information of Chris Chan still not going to jail, followed by a special issue of Sonichu, our local resident fansubber gets a (TRUE AND HONEST) cease and desist notice from Funimation, our current issues with fansubbers out there, people on MAL get mad over the use of “Weeaboo,” both Jonn and Dustin talking about their Halloween convention plans, as well as Dustin panel rejection and approval issues with Banzaicon during the Halloween weekend. All this and much more in this weeks episode.

OP – Only on Halloween, is the Devilman our ride and die buddy…
