For this podcast episode we combined two episode reviews into one show, because why not. This time we got our topics about what we got on Black Friday, the comics code history, drag queens, echo audio issues, the Rocky films, how great the Karate Kid films are and much more. Closing remarks topics are about Pokemon, how JYB is recast to be Broly for Funimation, Dustin viewings on the 90’s CGI Ape-Trocity Donkey Kong Country, our thoughts on The Mandalorian, Frank Oz/Jim Henson talk, more talk about Star Wars and much more!

After about 5 months of not putting out any con coverages, Dustin thought we can just double up and OD our listeners with two major cons in one episode with Animazement and Anime Weekend Atlanta.
(0:00 – 2:16:45) Animazement 2017 Review – Do people other than this podcast talk about cons 5 months after they happen? Well who knows, but it’s coming out now finally! Of course, this doesn’t go into Animazement immediately, not when Jonn had something to say about not going to see the failed assassination of Jason David Frank at Phoenix Comic Con. Jonn also talks about the dumb weapons policies to “protect” attendees that are not JDF and Robotech. It’s still about roughly 30 or so minutes in that Dustin talks about his con experience at Animazement. Included in this review is stories of the inside world of Limited Run Games, seeing your old teenhood house for the first time in years, how Strafe is inferior to Dead or Alive Xtreme 3, nerds who fail at hitting on girls, Justin Roland stories, people who bring their cats to cons, Antifa v. Street Preachers, not seeing this years Anime Hell, the History of Animazement, meeting forum members IRL, closing remarks of Timbox/Chris Chan and much more.
(2:16:45 – 4:49:07) AWA 2017 Review – Here’s a con that happened within a month that we can get a decent review out in time. This was Dustin first time going to AWA, and based on his 2 day experience, it’s a con worth going back too. This of course comes with meeting anime fan legends like Dave Merrill, Daryl Surat, Walter Amos, Neil Nadelman, and meeting new fans while there as well. This is also another instance where rooming with another forum member makes the con a better experience, and even doing a podcast drunk with them is also fun. Included is how Hell is done at AWA, old school anime dubs, buying up anime vinyl records and playing them on this recording, and more. Closing Remarks are about how the podcast is trying to monitize, the Las Vegas shooting/gun control laws discussion (there’s a part I meant to say was an amendment but said constitution by mistake. So if you caught that, my bad), Chris Chan relationship ends (before it ever got started), Jonn squeaky chair chimes in, Final Fantasy games, Dustin owning an SNES Classic and much more!

Well it’s that time of the year again, where you’re flat broke from shopping from other people, and you have all that wrapping paper to pick up off the ground from your kids. We hope that this episode is the best gift you’ve gotten this year, because we decide to review the latest Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin – Artesia’s Sorrow OVA…
(0:00 – 51:42) Christmas Special Review – Gundam the Origin 2 OVA – We understand this anime came out back in October, and its only taken us now to finally sit down and review it. Our reason would be, its all
Jonn Dustin fault, so there is someone to blame. We actually really liked this OVA, and are happy to see how well it will adapt the manga story, a manga story that Dustin is still reading, after having volume 5 for over a year. Will he ever finish it? Well, his lazy butt is on break, so there isn’t an excuse there. As much as our host try to stay on topic, dumb things keep coming up like talking about that crappy Yogi Bear movie, how FOX can’t make a good cartoon list, how we didn’t care about the internet opinions on Gundam the Origin, comparing real life events to Gundam, Resident Evil 4 talk, Gundam in general talk, Texan towns like Gun Barrel, DeKalb and O’Donnell, horse riding and country western talk, the Final Fantasy 7 remake, and much more.
(51:42 – 1:41:46) Closing Remarks – Dustin explains his reasoning (or lack thereof) for having a drunk podcast, Dragonball Z general summary, The GRAND RETURN OF GHOST!, Chris Chan demands an embargo on all Gamestop and Best Buy locations, Donald Trump vs. Ever Muslim Ever!, opinions on the Syrian Refugee issue, making movies for North Korea, Jonn grandmother passing, and much more.

(0:00 – 48:49) Blockbuster Anime Review – Dragonball Z: Resurrection of F: As of this recording, this latest Dragonball Z movie is ranked 9th according to this list of top grossing anime movies of all time. Both hosts were able to see the films and have some good remakrs to say about it. Despite Toei being the cheapest anime company out there (more so than CPM’s legacy), they’re able to continue drawing in more of the western audience into theaters to see a Japanese cartoon for being the most well known Japanese cartoon to ever exist. Other than some spoilers to recap the movie, Jonn has to explain to Dustin the entire complexity of DBZ canon vs. non-canon to him. This of course brings us to talking about One Piece and the real TRUTH behind the Garlic Jr. Saga… well not really.
(48:49 – 1:30:28) The Republican National Closing Remarks Debate: For some unknown reason, Jonn and Dustin sit down and dissect the big Republican Debate back in August, and really just talk about the great mystery on how number one real estate NYC gangsta Donald Trump is ahead of every politician ever. Dustin also says RIP to a notable anime fan of his day, Robert W. Gibson, which you can check out his convention stories over at Hokuto no Fogie, and last year’s interviews with Tim Eldred and Anime World Order, to see what it really was like to be an early anime fan. Also stay tuned for the “zinger” after the song for Daft’s great plan to open up a “board game bar,” and how geek bars might be bad idea’s all around. All this and much more in this weeks episode…

It’s Zeonic and his brother talking about seeing the theatrical viewing of Dragonball Z: Battle of Gods as they walk out of the theater (after the movie ended of course) while driving to a bookstore within the town. Well its really Zeonic and his bro talking about DBZ related stuff, and how loud the GPS is in the car. (Warning: This is pretty ghetto and I didn’t edit a thing).

It’s been exaclty 18 episodes since we covered the first volume of Gundam the Origin manga, and for that… we have zero excuses as to why its been that long (no wait, it’s all Josh’s fault). The bigger question is, is it going to be take another 18 more episodes to get to volume 3? I am not even sure if we can be at liberty to answer that question at this time. But hey, we finally got around to talking about volume 2 now. We also get to dive into the Dragonball Z movie that came out last year, Battle of Gods, and finish things up with our thoughts on the last days of Sword Art Online being on Toonami. This episode was also recorded on the new mic I got, and as you can probably tell, I sound kinda different. I am still working out the kinks on how to make it sound, so well see how that goes down in the next few episodes (or if I just need to go back to the old USB Headset).
0:00 – 34:05: So after all this time of mentioning an episode to review Gundam the Origin Vol. 2 in our past episodes, that day has finally come. We pretty much discuss changes made in the manga from the anime series that we were able to point out and give our take on it. Of course, like usual fare, we don’t stay on topic much, not when I say that Brony’s have their own docutmentary, people who hate old UC Gundam shows at comic book places, general Gundam talk (cuz thats how we do it,) the dubs of Streamline anime, how Gundam was animated back in the day and much more. There was also an issue with a transition from us talking about Bright B(right)-slapping Amuro in the manga to getting in the middle of a discussion of Double Zeta. All you need to know is that is how GarageBand works for us.
34:05 – 1:05:20: After talking about this film a little bit on our AIM chatroom a few days before we recorded, we decided to also give our thoughts on last year’s Dragonball Z: Battle of Gods movie. For a film made almost 20 years after Wrath of the Dragon, it seems to be an all around fun movie for true Dragonball Z fans. This gets us to mostly talk about Dragonball Z in general (or really Zeonic’s recollection of a show he hasn’t seen in almost a decade at this point), how people think it’s a good idea to make a 1080p video of Gundam Wing openings, our favorite lolcow news and more.
1:05:20 – 1:43:20: While in the middle of Jonn’s closing remarks on Love_that_Goku becoming a Satanist, Josh brings up a much more pressing matter at hand than anything we have discussed so far, SWORD ART ONLINE IS FINALLY OVER ON TOONAMI!!!! We relished in our celebration to bring you our thoughts on the last 2 episodes of that god forsaken show. Of course, we called upon a man who we have mentioned his name in passing several times in the past; a man who is our source of SAO knowledge, and a man who can only be called upon as… “C.G.” (ChibiGoku). Along with SAO bashing and smashing, we discuss if Japanese might be true rednecks, VHS/VCR tech talk, what’s going on in Toonami, how we celebrated SAO last episode, how the new Robocop film is pretty good, and much more.
Next time, you can expect us to get into the zone for our March (and probably April) review of a particular 80’s anime gem.
We also want to give a shout out to Otaku Generation for playing our promo on their most recent episode.
This show has:
Man… this will be a great performance from Chris Sabat for sure…
Hate crimes against Brony’s is a serious offense guys…
I’ll let you guys judge on what is the best dub…

Valentine’s Day Single Awareness Day special, we bring on Geoffrey Tebbetts to discuss his contributing blog, Golden Ani. The blog is dedicated to the past 50 years of Japanese Animation, with written reviews by other anime bloggers/big kahunas out there. After a few questions to that, we get to our main topic, our “anime first loves,” where we talk about what anime’s we first fell in love with that really got us into anime. Geoffrey talks about Maison Ikkoku, my co-host Jonn and Josh talk about the glory days of Toonami programming shows that made them anime fans, and I bring up my personal favorite OVA “first love,” Sol Bianca. Oh, and me and Jonn talk about an “en espanol” station, Locomotion.
