After a long time coming (that no one asked for), the podcast covers one of the worst greatest blunders of Robotech history; Robotech: The Movie: The Untold Story. This time the podcast is greeted by Robotech fan Grant The Thief.
(0:00 – 1:23:40) The Untold Review: Robotech: The Movie (ie, Talk-About-Robotech-Than-This-Crappy-Film-For-Over-An-Hour-And-Twenty-Minutes) – No the headline isn’t lying to you guys, Dustin, Jonn and Grant really did talk about other Robotech stuff than this film. Think about it, if the hosts really “did” talk about Robotech: The Movie, this podcast would have been really short, and who wants that? Before ever going into trying to summarize the wikipedia article of this film, the hosts just talked Robotech from property rights, fandom and silly crossovers throughout Robotech lifetime. This also gets into discussion on Harmony Gold properties (like that Captain Harlock dub), who Carl Macek really is, how people forgot how to draw Robotech officially, how anime being shown on television has changed for the better and much more.
(1:23:40 – 02:21:55) Closing Remarks – Dustin and Jonn bring in the verdict for the Rise and Crash of KidsClickTV, Grant brings in how great Lupin the 3rd is, Dustin being a panelist at Electric City Comic Con, Cartoon Network shows, crazy Robotech podcasters, and how breaking up with your fiancee is hard to do. All this and more in this weeks episode.
Music Selection:
OP – Why can’t I be saaaaaaaved, from Harmony Gold!
ED – The future is looking grim for Robotech, oh wait, that’s nothing new…
This show has:
I hope the rest of this gets on TV for real…

So its been about November since we reviewed any older anime, and it’s high time we bring that back to the listeners. This time, both hosts Dustin and Jonn hop aboard the Kamiya and set sail on a wild adventure with our favorite womanizing space explorer, in Space Adventure Cobra: The Movie.
(0:00 – 55:58) Review: Space Adventure Cobra: The Movie – This is a film both Dustin and Jonn have been looking at for a couple of years now to review, and now both host have finally set their eyes towards the galaxy of high anime adventure. This Cobra film was a blast from start to finish, and it never stopped anywhere for a second to slow down. Cobra wants to tell you a story and fully expects you to strap in and hold on from start to finish, all the while having a blast in the process. This is full of babes, guns, space, ice planets and people who CANT MAKE THAT SHOT! Both host go into the film from start to finish, but that shouldn’t sway your opinion to not watch this thing. There were some off-topic stops during the review about Dustin watching Space Pirate Captain Harlock on Hulu, Hulu vs. Netflix, CPF talks about the dubbing on Harlock, our co-host Josh and his snoring issues, discussing Cobra TV, manga and the movie, people who are terrible fansub groups, nipples in anime, MSNBC vs. ani-twitter and more.
(36:08 – 38:30) Podcast Promo’s – It’s been a while since the last time we added podcast promo’s, so we should again give credit where credit is due. Anime World Order has been on the podcast beat for 10 years now, and they decided to spend their episode talking about shows from last year, and a promise of a high speed drifting review coming next… maybe. Jeff from the Daily Anime Podcast last spent his episode talking to his girlfriend/aka Love Plus waifu jailbait. Seriously, Jeff don’t do that again, but you at least explained why you did it, but no more…. EVER AGAIN! Fast Karate came back to talk about games, and make fun of Edgar from 24, which made Dustin laugh the hardest at a Fast Karate episode for the first time in a couple of years. They also lasted 10 years, but that was months ago, so let’s move on.
(55:58 – 1:31:53) Closing Remarks – The review conversation naturally transitions into discussing people who can’t figure out voice actors, Dustin gives advice on how to make his girlfriend Dori into a Gundam fan, failed promoters for our podcast, Dustin turned 30 (i.e. his “otaku expiration date” has come and must be renewed) and celebrated the occasion by watching Logan’s Run, 70’s science fiction movies talk, we say RIP to Lemmy Kilmister, David Bowie, Alan Rickman and Glenn Frey, America and their “Fast and Furious” goof on El Chapo, Chris Chan news, people who are white knights for Chris at places that Dustin knew in Raleigh, and comic book store bathroom troubles. All this an much more in this weeks episode.

Ok, so it’s been a exactly 25 episodes since we last covered the Gundam the Origin manga. However, we’re at least was honest in that post about if it’ll take longer than 18 episodes to get to the next volume, which we clearly went above and beyond that number. However, Jonn and Zeonic are gonna double dose it for you, by covering TWO volumes of Gundam the Origin in this episode too make up some lost ground. We are also gonna keep up with tradition from last year, and that’s to read out a years worth of comments we have received in 2014 (and some of 2015 as well).
(0:00 – 50:00) Review: Mobile Suit Gundam – The Origin Vol. 3 & 4: After playing our Indiegogo intro at the beginning of the podcast, both Jonn and Zeonic tackle the South American Zeon occupied jungle of Gundam the Origin. Both co-host are able to go through both volumes by hitting the high points of the plot, but it’s all the same if someone saw the original Gundam series to begin with, so die hard fans are not gonna get offended by the spoilers we might say. Of course, this is Yasuhiko way of making sure the White Base crew knew where South America was than trying to trek through Asia to get there like in the original series. Of course before we dive into any of that, Zeonic explains to Jonn how he was still alive by battling a harsh cold, getting on tangents about television censorship in cartoons, and then us talking about Futurama seasons for some reason.
(50:00 – 52:27) Promo’s: Alpha Counter is there to remind us the dangers of today’s post-modern way of accepting Furries and how, that idea is just plain dumb. Anime World Order has been busy with putting out 2 episodes within a months time, which includes interviews with current Hobby Link Japan employee and one of the early founders of American anime fandom Ardith Carlton, as well as talking about SeHa Girls with Heidi Kemps. Dave and Joel still wanna let you know, that Jojo’s is a crazy show to watch.
(52:27 – 2:07:33) Keeping with Tradition – Reading Listener Comments: This is a tradition that we’ll continue to do on the podcast, because it’s our small appreciation to you listeners that we do read your comments, and then later read them out loud on this podcast once a year. Upon reading out our comments in 2014, we get into discussions about Gundam, Macross (and the blunders at Harmony Gold), Captain Harlock, video games and a whole lot more. This of course keeps us up with the latest Chris Chan news, Discotek Media doing their own crowdsource idea, and much more.
Music Selection:
OP – I need to let the world know, that there is a garage band dedicated to Gundam…
ED – Just letting you listeners know, our love for you is not a lie…
This show has:
The era of Nixon Censorship is upon us…
Yea, someone attempted to do a documentary about Chris Chan…
AoY Podcast #51 – Space Pirate Captain Harlock (2013) Review

So, you could say it’s been about mid-July since the last time we did a review of some kind, and you would be totally right about that. Well, thanks to the power of selecting anime off Netflix, Jonn and Zeonic were able to find the treasure trove of freedom in the recent works by Shinji Aramaki. So, Jonn and Zeonic take our oaths to the Arcadia and TAKE TO THE SKYYYY with the 2013 Space Pirate Captain Harlock movie.
(0:00 – 33:55) Review: Space Pirate Captain Harlock (2013): When it comes to knowing the world of Captian Harlock, Zeonic and Jonn have only really seen Arcadia of my Youth (aka SECOND TOO THE GREATNESS OF VENGEANCE OF THE SPACE PIRATE!!), and Zeonic saw some of Harlock Saga he rented back from Blockbuster in the early 2000’s during his high school anime renting days. So, we really don’t know a whole lot about the world of Harlock compared to people like Corn Pone Flicks, Dave Merrill, and a bunch of other Harlock fans stretched across the interstellar maps of the internet (I should note, Dave Merrill and CPF are one in the same entity BTW.) So Zeonic and Jonn decided to give this recent movie by the fantastic mecha designer/ not so fantastic director Shinji Aramaki. Aside from phallic weapons IINNNN SPAAACE, poor politics and trying to reverse time; we SPOIL a lot about this film, for good reason. This of course has us talking about Aramaki as a director in general, and maybe a strong accusation on how he makes every movie ever.
(33:55 – 55:56) Social “In”justice Warriorz Segment: Jonn and Zeonic decided after blabbering on about Harlock for far too long, they get into some current issues (as of August 2014) with the riots in Ferguson MI, RIP to Robin Williams (really just a mention there), the trial details of OJ Simpson, general anime talk, The Eltingville Club comic, phone company problems, and much more.
