AoY Podcast #107 – Valentine’s Day Special (Minna Agechou Review)
Also known as: “TWISTED TRANSFORMING SWASTIKAS!!”
Download Episode HERE! (Total Time: 1:35:49)
So, another Valentine’s Day, another year to review something with a (in)cohesive love story, well its about as cohesive as a late 90’s Rated R Teen Comedy. Lonely nerds out there, get your tissue boxes ready for Minna Agechou.
(0:00 – 53:12) Valentine’s Day Review: Minna Agechou – So for all you lonely heart saps out there that didn’t get the person of their dreams to spend time with for Valentines Day, hey don’t worry about it, just listen to what Dustin and Jonn have to say about the ecchi anime to pick your spirits up, and funny bone-er. Minna Agechow was something that CPM didn’t get to release, and has since never came out in the west to this day. I mean why not release it when it has tips on how to make your vagina turn to steel, getting married into a rich Japanese family, getting it on doggy style inside a military tank and a whole lot more in store. Of course, discourse on other topics arise, like how kids don’t like today’s sex education being taught, Dustin and his “teamist” prejudice feelings on the Patriots winning the Super Bowl, Japan and sex (according to angry otakus), and more.
(53:12 – 53:52) AnimeCart Promo TIME!!!
(53:52 – 1:35:49) Closing Remarks – Hey, both hosts just can’t help but to talk about the current American political climate with the current decisions on immigration, along with Ghost greatest backstab, along with comments from Elfoxoloco, comments on cosplayers and anime superstars, and much more!
Music Selection:
OP – Minna Agechou mom has got it going on…
ED – Vagina Training Montage…

Ok, so it’s been a exactly 25 episodes since we last covered the Gundam the Origin manga. However, we’re at least was honest in that post about if it’ll take longer than 18 episodes to get to the next volume, which we clearly went above and beyond that number. However, Jonn and Zeonic are gonna double dose it for you, by covering TWO volumes of Gundam the Origin in this episode too make up some lost ground. We are also gonna keep up with tradition from last year, and that’s to read out a years worth of comments we have received in 2014 (and some of 2015 as well).
(0:00 – 50:00) Review: Mobile Suit Gundam – The Origin Vol. 3 & 4: After playing our Indiegogo intro at the beginning of the podcast, both Jonn and Zeonic tackle the South American Zeon occupied jungle of Gundam the Origin. Both co-host are able to go through both volumes by hitting the high points of the plot, but it’s all the same if someone saw the original Gundam series to begin with, so die hard fans are not gonna get offended by the spoilers we might say. Of course, this is Yasuhiko way of making sure the White Base crew knew where South America was than trying to trek through Asia to get there like in the original series. Of course before we dive into any of that, Zeonic explains to Jonn how he was still alive by battling a harsh cold, getting on tangents about television censorship in cartoons, and then us talking about Futurama seasons for some reason.
(50:00 – 52:27) Promo’s: Alpha Counter is there to remind us the dangers of today’s post-modern way of accepting Furries and how, that idea is just plain dumb. Anime World Order has been busy with putting out 2 episodes within a months time, which includes interviews with current Hobby Link Japan employee and one of the early founders of American anime fandom Ardith Carlton, as well as talking about SeHa Girls with Heidi Kemps. Dave and Joel still wanna let you know, that Jojo’s is a crazy show to watch.
(52:27 – 2:07:33) Keeping with Tradition – Reading Listener Comments: This is a tradition that we’ll continue to do on the podcast, because it’s our small appreciation to you listeners that we do read your comments, and then later read them out loud on this podcast once a year. Upon reading out our comments in 2014, we get into discussions about Gundam, Macross (and the blunders at Harmony Gold), Captain Harlock, video games and a whole lot more. This of course keeps us up with the latest Chris Chan news, Discotek Media doing their own crowdsource idea, and much more.
Music Selection:
OP – I need to let the world know, that there is a garage band dedicated to Gundam…
ED – Just letting you listeners know, our love for you is not a lie…
This show has:
The era of Nixon Censorship is upon us…
Yea, someone attempted to do a documentary about Chris Chan…

Today is “Single Awareness Day” (or what the non-nerds call it “Valentines Day“), and to some of you listening to our podcast, are probably yet again as single as one could never hope. But fret not listener, because here at the Anime of Yesteryear Podcast, we are ones too never leave a man (or woman) all alone. We decide to take this opportune day to give back to you listeners out there, by reading off (mostly) the comments we have received over the past year.
Time codes (yea, I decided to do this to make following us a bit easier):
0:00-7:02: It’s pretty much us getting set up and dicking around (as usual) with talking about people who lost their plumbing in their house, demonic dryers in the background and probably other dumb things
7:02-1:20:00: We go ahead and read off our comments covering from our Aliens: Colonial Marines review from last year to our most recent anime collecting episode. We go off on tangents like movies that are kinda long to watch, how Zeonic is terrible with podcast funds and spends those on himself (i.e. EBAY WHY YOU GOTTA USE PAYPAL ALL THE TIME?), and a whole lot more I didn’t write down on my notes when I went to edit this episode. Oh yea, Cody is our number one fan on this podcast, because we mostly read off his comments, because he mostly comments.
1:20:00-1:49:15: Jonn and Zeonic get to blow off mass amount of steam and laugh our butts off at how wonderfully terrible Sword Art Online has become since we last talked about it in October or so. We can assume that it has to be one of Toonami’s best comedy shows on the block, because I have never laughed so hard talking about an anime in a really long time. Oh yea, Archer Vice is where its at.
1:49:15-2:25:44: We then get to talk about the other shows on Toonami, like how One Piece is getting REEEEALLY good in the Water 7 arc, Josh and Jonn discuss the other shows on the block and how they are doing, Clint Eastwood is cool with JoJo’s, and we discuss our thoughts on how great a show like Space Dandy is coming together. We then end it off with closing remarks of people on twitter who don’t want to sell sushi, how Chris Chan’s coffee maker started the fire, Josh won a Toonami T-shirt, and weeaboo’s in school. Of course, all this and more.
Music Selection:
OP- Is this considered the underlining theme song to Sword Art Online?
ED- This proves that we are jerks to others
