AoY Podcast #134 – Devilman-Ween Special (Devilman Crybaby)

Also known as: “You can find it in GoNagaiotamy, Chapter 6 Verse 66…”

Download Episode HERE! (Total Time: 1:43:01)

Another HallowsEve with the Devilman wanting to play with Dustin and Jonn. This time they review the recent hot (as hell) anime Devilman Crybaby!

(0:00 – 1:01:20) Review: Devilman Crybaby – Dustin concurs that this is the greatest Devilman anime out there so far, and was very popular around podcast and other reviewers at the beginning of the year when it hit Netflix. Yuasa takes special liberties to adapt the manga by adding some spins to it here and there, but it’s one wild ride for all 10 episodes. This also gets the hosts to talk about other Go Nagai works like Demon Lord Dante, the Scary Movie series (and how it relates to Devilman), and other stuff included.

(1:01:20 – 1:43:01) Closing Remarks – This gets the host to go straight into how Love that Goku got fired from the DBZ Emporium, RIP Toonzone and the aborted rebirth of Anime Superhero, how a TZ poster is a Lolcow, the saga of the Rape Van Troll bomber, RIP Gab.ai, Megyn Kelly getting fired, Chris Chan running his own Heavens Gate and Sonichu #16, and much more!

Music Selection:

OP – Devilman comes again in your head…

AoY Podcast #133 – A Fooly Cooly Episode

Also known as: “The store is called ‘Christian Dragonball Z Emporium’…”

Download Episode HERE! (Total Time: 1:19:05)

This time we bring a short(er) episode as the hosts grow up in a Fooly Cooly sort of way…

(0:00- 40:00) Review: FLCL Progressive/Alternative – Both FLCL series have finished up on Toonami, and Jonn and Dustin dive head first in to the zany, lazy world on the high school life on growing up. This is more of an overview episode of all three series to kinda briefly summarize our thoughts on Progressive and Alternative. This also gets the episode started with how violent Jonn bird is, Dustin and his substitute teaching gig stories, how CNN bans the word “Mob”, the recent revival of old Adult Swim originals and much more.

(40:00 – 1:19:05) Closing Remarks: At some point we get into this segment (probably really after Jonn internet decides to crap out) to mention the grand return of how Love that Goku is going to run an anime/DBZ store, more stories on troubled teens in school, the Brent Kavanaugh Supreme Court hearing, how socialism works in the land of Chris Chan and much more.

AoY Podcast #125 – Wakandan Panther Review

Also known as: “I will kick the tree over right into the [sic] ground and climb it horizontally…”

Download Episode HERE! (Total Time: 2:23:25)

This time we discover the lost imaginary nation of Wakanda and hunt down the interests of a black panther in the Marvel universe with our review of Black Panther.

(0:00 – 57:00) Movies Review: Black Panther – Now that the film as of this episode has broken the one billion dollar box office amount, the highest rated movie on Rotten Tomatoes and is the center of American political social media discussion, both Dustin and Jonn just see the film as another Marvel movie. Both get into the politicized rhetoric of online reviewers who praise this movie, Dustin discusses Death Wish and Mazinger Z Infinity as being far better films than Black Panther, and also discuss what we liked and didn’t like about the film.

(57:00 – 2:23:25) Closing Remarks – It’s once again time for opinions about all the events that has happened in the past month since our last episode, which leaded to discussions about gun control, should teachers be armed, Alex Jones v. CNN v. Youtube, the GRAND RETURN of Love That Goku, Dustin attends the Atlanta SciFi Expo (which as of this post, the website is 404, so that should tell you something) in a ghetto mall, Jonn mentions the Black Lightning show, Toonami boob censorship, latest Chris Chan documentary and much more.

AoY Podcast # 108 – Techno Police 21C Review

Also known as: “DAM TRUCK DER HIT MAH KAHR!”
and also: “My balls are huge, making all these threats…”

Download Episode HERE! (Total Time: 1:58:48)

To celebrate the belated 30th anniversary of the greatest OVA of all time, Bubblegum Crisis, both Dustin and Jonn thought it would be fitting to celebrate the film that inspired the creation of Bubblegum Crisis, and that is Techno Police 21C.

(0:00 – 1:11:00) Review: The “Ultimate Non-Bubblegum Crisis Review” Techno Police 21C – To all those anime reviewers that were all about the Bubblegum Crisis anniversary and celebrating its monumental achievement to anime, they can go rot for all we care, cuz SCREW THAT NOISE! This podcast gets down to the real roots of where Bubblegum Crisis began, in a dumb, theatrical, cheezy robot film done by the original creator of Bubblegum Crisis, Toshimichi Suzuki. If you the listener are thinking “What the hell’s the AOY Podcast problem not covering Bubblegum Crisis?” (or other problems we have in general), the answer is that Dustin and Jonn covered Bubblegum Crisis for it’s 25th anniversary, and all those episodes are on our review page for you to check out that came from another podcast Jonn and Dustin used to do. This also includes off topic banter about making a bank into a crystal triangle, Mike Judge secret anime stash, retard robots ride the short bus, Dustin Wesley Willis impersonation, this movie inspired other great films to be made, comparisons between Techno Police and Bubblegum Crisis, technical issues and much more!

For other good content on Bubblegum Crisis, check out The Anime Nostalgia podcast discussion of it with Sean O’Mara, which Sean also has done reviews of Bubblegum Crisis for Zimmerit.moe.

(1:11:00 – 1:58:48) Closing Remarks: As per the usual, some political talks gets into our discussion regarding that Milo dude and those left-winged peeps, but then other pressing matters come up. Such matters as how Love that Goku is out to destroy the Alt-Right, A former TZ Member boycott against My Anime List, Belledona of Sadness was on TCM the same night as Toonami, people on twitter who turned gay from Cartoon Network, live action anime film talk, RIP Bill Paxton and Robert Osbourne and so much more.
