With Banzaicon ending the weekend as this podcast comes out (and Zeonic still getting things ready as he is writing this post the day before he leaves for the con), the crew were able to come together and join in the Holy Trinity once more to be able to review something that ended on Toonami not too long ago. In this episode, you get to ride the funkadelic groove of Zeonic, Jonn and Josh talking about Space Dandy Season 2.
(0:00 – 1:19:14) Review: Space Dandy Season 2: Man, what a hell of an ending to “one hell of a show” – Jonn. I don’t know if anything as unique or interesting as Space Dandy will be made in a very long time, unless another Space Dandy comes out. Or then again, maybe Space Dandy was made to save anime for everyone, because lord knows we need it. We should inform you that we do get to SPOIL things from this past season, as Zeonic is able to read off the episode summaries in wikipedia, while Jonn and Josh get to chime in on what they wanted to say on each episode. Space Dandy should also mark the second time someone has passed away while having a role in the show, as the most recent death of Toshiro Hirata wasn’t too far away. We get to mention that Mike Toole wrote a column for ANN about his favorite episodes, and Ben from AniPages is connecting all the dots to everyone who has worked on this show, and gives his straight forward opinions on them as well. Of course, before we get into anything about Space Dandy, we ramble about getting sex offers on Skype at the beginning of this recording; and then end things off with the state of anime today, mention movies, the end of traditional saturday morning cartoons, along with the recent statuses of Love_That_Goku and Chris Chan. All this and more in this weeks episode.
Bonus Content: As we stated in the podcast, you can view the Space Dandy Official Fan Book from Zeonic main site by clicking on the highlighted text in this paragraph. Just a heads up.

AoY Podcast #43 – Gundam Month The Fourth: Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn Ep 7: “Over the Rainbow” Review
Also known as: “That must be the worst kind of hell ever to chase after Lalah forever…”

Well, this is going to conclude our Gundam Month segment for quite a while, until there is new Gundam to come out to talk about. After over three years of podcast’s between different names and people, we are here to finally finish out our Gundam Month segments; as we dive into the newtype rainbow of Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn Episode 7: Over the Rainbow.
Gundam Unicorn 7 was able to answer some questions to a lot of Gundam fans as to “kinda” tell what happens after Char’s Counterattack, as we discuss the events and story behind this final OVA spanning over 4 years now. You can expect to find giant mobile armors with TONS AND TONS OF GUNS EVERYWHERE, newtype acid trips, newtype ghosts, colony lasers, and how newtypes were destined to have political positions. We were able to have Andy from the Daily Anime Podcast join us to talk about this OVA, which got us to talk about the new Godzilla movie in the beginning of this recording, angry autistic’s on tumblr, autistic’s against Funimation getting Gundam, catching Andy up on our favorite LolCow, us bro’s having bro crushes on Suichi Ikeda, (I ment to say George Washington not Thomas Jefferson for those history people out there, my bad), how smoking is an issue in Universal Century (the quote is found somewhere on this page but I’ll post the quote after this paragraph), bad writers and more general Gundam talk plus more than that.
Here is the quote Jonn used in his closing remarks: “The poison called tobacco, which was once almost extinct in the old ages, still lingered in the days of Universal Century 0096. This was the result of tobacco quality improving as a result of the space age, like the reduction of tar to reduce the negative effects on the human body and the intricate machines, and the development of chemicals that combust at low temperatures in tobacco, but most people felt that the biggest reason for the revival of tobacco was the One Year War.”

AoY Podcast #36 – Gundam The Origin Vol.2 / DBZ Battle of Gods Review
Also known as: “That’s our, proper Macek way…”
and also: “IT’S NOT REAL, IT’S A VIDEO GAME!”

It’s been exaclty 18 episodes since we covered the first volume of Gundam the Origin manga, and for that… we have zero excuses as to why its been that long (no wait, it’s all Josh’s fault). The bigger question is, is it going to be take another 18 more episodes to get to volume 3? I am not even sure if we can be at liberty to answer that question at this time. But hey, we finally got around to talking about volume 2 now. We also get to dive into the Dragonball Z movie that came out last year, Battle of Gods, and finish things up with our thoughts on the last days of Sword Art Online being on Toonami. This episode was also recorded on the new mic I got, and as you can probably tell, I sound kinda different. I am still working out the kinks on how to make it sound, so well see how that goes down in the next few episodes (or if I just need to go back to the old USB Headset).
0:00 – 34:05: So after all this time of mentioning an episode to review Gundam the Origin Vol. 2 in our past episodes, that day has finally come. We pretty much discuss changes made in the manga from the anime series that we were able to point out and give our take on it. Of course, like usual fare, we don’t stay on topic much, not when I say that Brony’s have their own docutmentary, people who hate old UC Gundam shows at comic book places, general Gundam talk (cuz thats how we do it,) the dubs of Streamline anime, how Gundam was animated back in the day and much more. There was also an issue with a transition from us talking about Bright B(right)-slapping Amuro in the manga to getting in the middle of a discussion of Double Zeta. All you need to know is that is how GarageBand works for us.
34:05 – 1:05:20: After talking about this film a little bit on our AIM chatroom a few days before we recorded, we decided to also give our thoughts on last year’s Dragonball Z: Battle of Gods movie. For a film made almost 20 years after Wrath of the Dragon, it seems to be an all around fun movie for true Dragonball Z fans. This gets us to mostly talk about Dragonball Z in general (or really Zeonic’s recollection of a show he hasn’t seen in almost a decade at this point), how people think it’s a good idea to make a 1080p video of Gundam Wing openings, our favorite lolcow news and more.
1:05:20 – 1:43:20: While in the middle of Jonn’s closing remarks on Love_that_Goku becoming a Satanist, Josh brings up a much more pressing matter at hand than anything we have discussed so far, SWORD ART ONLINE IS FINALLY OVER ON TOONAMI!!!! We relished in our celebration to bring you our thoughts on the last 2 episodes of that god forsaken show. Of course, we called upon a man who we have mentioned his name in passing several times in the past; a man who is our source of SAO knowledge, and a man who can only be called upon as… “C.G.” (ChibiGoku). Along with SAO bashing and smashing, we discuss if Japanese might be true rednecks, VHS/VCR tech talk, what’s going on in Toonami, how we celebrated SAO last episode, how the new Robocop film is pretty good, and much more.
Next time, you can expect us to get into the zone for our March (and probably April) review of a particular 80’s anime gem.
We also want to give a shout out to Otaku Generation for playing our promo on their most recent episode.
Music Selection:
OP – After a long sleep, we awake once again…
ED – We get to rock out with a cool dragon…

Man… this will be a great performance from Chris Sabat for sure…

AoY Podcast #35 – Valentines Day Special 2014 (Comments/Toonami Talk)
Also known as: “I AM A BEATER!!!”
or also: “So, is Japan the Alabama of Asia or something?”
Download Episode HERE! (Total Time: 2:25:44)
Today is “Single Awareness Day” (or what the non-nerds call it “Valentines Day“), and to some of you listening to our podcast, are probably yet again as single as one could never hope. But fret not listener, because here at the Anime of Yesteryear Podcast, we are ones too never leave a man (or woman) all alone. We decide to take this opportune day to give back to you listeners out there, by reading off (mostly) the comments we have received over the past year.
Time codes (yea, I decided to do this to make following us a bit easier):
0:00-7:02: It’s pretty much us getting set up and dicking around (as usual) with talking about people who lost their plumbing in their house, demonic dryers in the background and probably other dumb things
7:02-1:20:00: We go ahead and read off our comments covering from our Aliens: Colonial Marines review from last year to our most recent anime collecting episode. We go off on tangents like movies that are kinda long to watch, how Zeonic is terrible with podcast funds and spends those on himself (i.e. EBAY WHY YOU GOTTA USE PAYPAL ALL THE TIME?), and a whole lot more I didn’t write down on my notes when I went to edit this episode. Oh yea, Cody is our number one fan on this podcast, because we mostly read off his comments, because he mostly comments.
1:20:00-1:49:15: Jonn and Zeonic get to blow off mass amount of steam and laugh our butts off at how wonderfully terrible Sword Art Online has become since we last talked about it in October or so. We can assume that it has to be one of Toonami’s best comedy shows on the block, because I have never laughed so hard talking about an anime in a really long time. Oh yea, Archer Vice is where its at.
1:49:15-2:25:44: We then get to talk about the other shows on Toonami, like how One Piece is getting REEEEALLY good in the Water 7 arc, Josh and Jonn discuss the other shows on the block and how they are doing, Clint Eastwood is cool with JoJo’s, and we discuss our thoughts on how great a show like Space Dandy is coming together. We then end it off with closing remarks of people on twitter who don’t want to sell sushi, how Chris Chan’s coffee maker started the fire, Josh won a Toonami T-shirt, and weeaboo’s in school. Of course, all this and more.
Music Selection:
OP- Is this considered the underlining theme song to Sword Art Online?
ED- This proves that we are jerks to others
