It’s the last show of the year and of the decade, and it comes out hours before the ball drops into 2021! It’s a 3-in-1 bundle of episodes since the first two were supposed to come out during Christmas (which didn’t happen). Now you can enjoy listening to them at your lame New Years Eve party or getting over a hangover on New Years Day!

(0:00 – 1:59:20) ACT 1 – Our Gaming Episode that didn’t make it out in time for ThanksGaming – The excuse for our ThanksGaming and not having one was reasons of not having the time to do it. But hey, Dustin and Jonn talk about a plethora of games that came out in 2020 like Cyberpunk 2077, Mario 3D All Stars, Star Wars Squadrons, Final Fantasy 7 Remake and a few others. This also includes side banter and closing remarks talk of Peter Fay tweets, surviving Atlanta the night Biden got elected on the news, election results talk, Baked Alaska arrest and the world around streams and the IP2 community, RIP Shoutouts to Alex Trebek, Sean Connery to name a few that have passed away, and much more!

(1:59:20 – 3:42:22) ACT 2 – Our annual Star Wars something review of The Mandalorian Season 2 – Because of the entertainment empire of Disney and their golden calf of Star Wars titles to make, Dustin and Jonn go over the Mandalorian series and hit up more on the Star Wars universe. This also gets into a rant on Anita Sarkeesian, remembering when the Bleach fandom had their online meltdown, RIP Boba Fett actor Jeremy Bolloch and Goku voice actor Kirby Marrow, classic film talk such as Gone With The Wind and Metropolis, comedians, Sealab 2021, the upcoming Star Wars series from Disney, how Mega64 makes far superior Evangelion content, Dustin and hosting his AWA panel online (you can find that here on this Google Drive file because I’d rather not put on Youtube in fear of copyright, so enjoy! – Dustin) and much more!

(3:42:22 – 5:47:42) FINAL ACT – A somewhat review of Wonder Woman 84 with a platter of a bunch of nerd ramblings – Dustin, Jonn and Daft come on the mic to give their thoughts on the latest Wonder Woman film, but in reality like 30 or so minutes was spent talking about that movie while they would rather talk about anything and everything else that sidetracked the conversation. Included in this dish is sports talk, live action shows we were watching, Jonn and Daft trash on Looney Tunes Rabbit Run, how the 80’s have warn out its welcome in media, 90’s nostalgia, cartoon remake talks, comics, how it is watching Marvel films with your parents, the Christmas gifts we got this year, Daft explains Section 230 to Dustin, and much more! There’s also a zinger about some dumb 90’s show called Van Pires that Daft wants to review, which that’s something to look forward too!

Music Selection:

OP – We fondly remember thee 2020…

Interlude 1 – Afroman gets no love during Christmas dawg!

Interlude 2 – Santa Claus didn’t die for your sins…

ED – Don’t we all feel the same about this year…

This episode has:

The one skit that pissed off Dustin mom…

Yea Evangelion 4.0 just isn’t gonna be that good….

“If Boba Fett wasn’t dead before, he sure as hell is now…” – Jerry from The Eltingville Club

One of the best Disney shorts…

AoY Podcast #67: I Love The 80’s Edition (Kung Fury & Mad Max: Fury Road Review)

11221365_672048706233987_4076824778214239268_n_huge

Also known as: “New form of green energy: Guitar Playing!”

Within a months time, both the big screen and the small tablet screens have been hit with a wave of 80’s style films. If you can’t tell from the title, there is no anime in this episode, but damn, these titles might as well be. We test drive our Testarossa flux capacitor once more and decide to hit up 1985 with Kung Fury and Mad Max: Fury Road.

(0:00 – 29:48) Live-Action OVA Review – Kung Fury: This was a film that wanted to replicate the mindset, feel, and era of 1985 Miami, Florida. Maybe it didn’t hit all the right keytar notes, but it has heart for sure. Kung Fury feels more like a fun little OVA than a film, but it does have many things going for it from tracking issues, Nazi arcade robots, and even laser raptors. This segment also gets Zeonic and Jonn talking about Jurassic Park/World talk, people’s opinions over Twitch on this film and much more.

(29:48 – 32:31) Podcast Promo’s: Since we reference both Alpha Counter and Mating Habits of the Modern Geek in our next review, they both had something to say about the new Mad Max film. Also, Jeff from Daily Anime Podcast is back to do more episode summaries of Legend of Galactic Heroes talk, and there is even a twitter group watch about it that started up recently, so give it a listen.

(32:31 – 1:30:15) Movie Review – Mad Max: Fury Road: It’s amazing to believe that the last Mad Max film is 30 years old at this point, and even with all three of those movies combined, they can still hold up today. Fury Road is the absolute equation of what Mad Max is and should be about, and if it took 30 years to get to this point, it was worth the wait. This film also gets the anti-SJW gears turning in Jonn and Zeonic when they mention the differing opinions of online people, American social issues, Aqua Teen Hunger Force talk, discuss the Mad Max films in more depth, the change of Bruce Jenner and Chris Chan feminism rantings. All this and a whole lot more in this week episode.

Music Selection:

OP1 – Get ready to enter 1985… Kung Fury STYLE!!!

ED1 – It takes a True Survivor to make it in our next review…

OP2 – Guitar Green Energy is the way to go in the Mad Max future…

ED2 – Were lucky to be one of the living…

This show has:

Don’t be hassling the Hoff now…

Yep, this was pretty much that scene in Mad Max…

Adios, Hunger Force of Aqua Teens…

Hitler must have used this trick in Miami (at 1:52)…
