Here’s to our end of 2024/beginning of 2025 podcastravaganza episode, combining out last recording with three other recordings made in the spring/summer of 2024 that never made it out in the time they were supposed to come out, because well, dumb reasons.
(0:00 – 1:39:08) Section A: Convention Recap, TV Series Talkback – It just works better to segment our discussions into these sections since it’s another big block episode anyways, so whatever. This gets into Internet Archive being down back in September of 2024, Jonn talks about someone passing out in a movie, Dustin being invovled with TigerCon 2024, Getting to chaperone with Voice Acting legends Dan Woren and Tiffany Grant, USA anime company talks, Dustin regards his tales of getting through a Property Management course for work, the 2024 Election Results talk, John concludes his crazy neighbors story arc, Jonn goes to a Mesa Toy Con, The Penguin and Severance TV series review and much more in the middle.
(1:39:08 – 3:39:22) Section B: The “Freeform Episode” Talk – This was our recording from sometime in late May of 2024, where it’s old-as-heck news now regarding Trump’s conviction discussion and how that’s going to effect the 2024 election (I don’t need to say more than that). This also gets into Jonn review of Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Freedom in theaters, Dune 2 and some Miyazaki film talk. Also included is the Toru Fuyura scandel, late night TV talk, the Nick Rekita online drama, how Youtube celebraties are trash, and much more.
(3:39:22 – 5:14:45) Section C: Summer 2024 Movie Reviews, Momocon 2024, and Mr. Jonn’s Sketchy Neighborhood Drama – This was the somewhat part 2 of the last recording we did, but this time we highlight the major beginnings of Jonn sketchy neighbors shenanigans back in June of 2024. Dustin talks about his highlights from Momocon, Jonn goes to a local toy con, and finding a cool Gundam tape from Otaku Joe’s. We also talk about Furiosa, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the Resident Evil films, Micheal Bay filmography, the music of Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad, certain people in the video ripping/archive community, and much more!
(5:14:45 – 6:56:52) Section D: “Pissing Around” Con Review Episode – This was recorded late spring of 2024 where Jonn and Dustin talk about SC Comicon and another Con in Phoenix, AZ. This gets into talking about future travel plans that never materialized, collecting stuff we find at conventions, Dustin meeting Meeting Eddie Deezen in the most “intersting” way possible, how Chris Chan was kicked out of a con in Raleigh, NC; Star Trek and classic SciFi TV shows talk, The Eltingville Club talk, the solar eclipse of 2024 and much more.

AoY Podcast #176 – Deadpool & Wolverine Review (w/ President Debate Pt. 2 and General Talk)
Also known as: “Listen here Fat! I’d like to see you do a push-up contest with me!”
Download Episode HERE! (Total Time: 2:28:08)
Due to the Internet Archive being down for about a month, were finally back to release something a little later than we wanted too, but here we are! We’re back to (not) really talking about anime, but we do kind of talk about anime. However there are bigger fish to fry with our review of Wolverine & Deadpool and another re-cap of the Presidental Debate Part 2.
(0:00 – 28:30) Fox just had to go Bye Bye Bye! Wolverine & Deadpool Review – We heat up the mics a bit to discuss recent current events like the latest Trump surviving another assassination attempt before we get into our discussion of the movie. Wolverine & Deadpool seemed to be the best Marvel film to come out to catch Dustin eye, and it only took Fox to (nearly) die off before that could happen. This gets into Marvel films Dustin has never seen while Jonn recants them, and our history of popular music that made up the new millennium.
(28:30 – 1:24:15) New Challenger Approaches! Presidentail Debate Part 2 Discussion – Both Dustin and Jonn give their thoughts on the latest Presidential Debate between Trump and Harris going through the pros and cons of the event. This also gets into Harris recent ABC interview, Biden wearing a trump hat and giving no damns in the process, the perhaps maybe close affair with Trump/Laura Loomer, our gripes in general about the American Political landscape and more.
(1:24:15 – 2:28:08) You know we do chat about Anime from time to time – Both Dustin and Jonn give their thoughts on anime they’ve been watching on their own. Dustin gives a nice overview of Keep Your Hands off Eizoken! and first thoughts on 16bit Sensation. Jonn is keeping up with the theme of what this podcast is about with him going back to the 90’s to talk about Burn Up Excess, El Hazard, Sorcerer Hunters and a general chat of how 90’s anime was made, and also talk about Gall Force. This also ends with Dustin recieving an email from Timbox and his Google Drive Trailer Video (a Link for your VERY ENJOYMENT!) as well Timbox 2008 Video, and end things off with more of Jonn reading from the Mobile Suit Gundam novel. All this and more in this episode!

After many years of putting off this series and then deciding to watch it within a week on a whim, Jonn and Dustin dive into the futuristic world of Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040. Also included is the greatest novel review you’ll ever hear about the Mobile Suit Gundam Novels.
(0:00 – 1:20:45) A Ninties ADV Cyberpunk Classic: Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 – This episode was a long time coming, and if anime were considered vintage by the standarts of automobile collectors, this just made it within the 26 year acceptance date. Our last review of Bubblegum Crisis was the OVA’s back in 2012 on another podcast we had, and you can find those episodes in our Review section. This also includes talk about the Legend of Galactic Heroes Test Dub on archive.org, Dustin history of first watching this show on the long forgotten cable network in South American countries named Locomotion in the summer of 2002, the musical talents of Akira Sudou and other colabs with the band, Pool and HVAC maintenance woes, Bubblegum Crisis merch talk, Discotek media talk and much more mixed in.
(1:20:45 – 3:02:50) The Jonn’s Review Closing Remark Segment – Jonn basically takes over this segment with anime he’s gotten around to watching Genesis Climber Mospeada, Red Photon Zillion and dives straight into our first ever book review of the Pulitzer Prize Raspberry Winner of the Mobile Suit Gundam novels. This also includes a bit of political talk, but its mostly the most glorified book review you’ll ever want to hear. This also includes our second recording to finalize the epic saga of Tomino storytelling JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT we were going to be done on the recording! This all includes our thoughts of the online Discotek Panel stream from Otakon 2024 and Dustin talks about Initial D dubbing for an ungodly amount of time. All this and more in this weeks episode!

(0:00 – 1:38:58) The Grumpy Old Man Debate Breakdown / Closing-Closing-Political Closing Remarks – Both Jonn and Dustin decided that the rematch debate among Trump v. Biden was by far the worst debate in recorded history. Both host give their own feedback on the debate and where this may go from here (most of which has already happened). Also talks about the American Political landscape, past Presidential debate talks, the Hunter Biden sentencing, Dustin talks a bit about Dirty Pair Flash, our thoughts on older 80’s mecha anime and more.
(1:38:58 – 3:52:34) The Ex-Prez Got Shot! / Closing Remarks Take Two – In the past month of this podcast episode release, you would think the American Election of 2024 has become some highly dramatized movie that keeps us on the edge of our seats every day when the American public wakes up to something new. This gets Dustin and Jonn talking about their theories behind the Trump shooting as well as Jonn Ghetto Hood Rat neighborhood drama, Kennedy assasination talk, the RNC 2024, were old people go to retire, the host future in assistant living, Jonn gives a quick review of Powered Armored Dorvack, Tomino character names, Dustin watching Mike Tyson Mysteries / China, IL, our anime backlog, the old way of releasing anime and much more!

AoY Podcast #173 – Takahashi vs. Tomino Round 6 Pt B (Wings of Rean / Super Dimension Century Orguss Review)
Also known as: “Is this the Alabama of anime or something?”
And Also: “Mimsy is approaching pregnancy age, will Kei knock her up?”
Download Episode HERE! (Total Time: 1:56:10)
This is going to be our closing bit for our latest Takahashi vs Tomino Round 6 episode where we discuss Wings of Rean, and then a much better anime where Jonn talks about Super Dimension Century Orguss.
(0:00 – 42:45) “Take these broken anime Wings” of Rean Review: Dustin and Jonn finalize their review of this anime stinker classic by Yoshiyuki Tomino. We would like to take credit that we maybe the second anime podcast out there that has covered this show below Anime World Order review in 2017, but who can say (other than a simple Google search but we ain’t doing that). This will conclude another directors battle episode since 2019, and the long (non) awaited sequel to Garzy’s Wing in our episode from 2016. We did our best talking about this anime, but alas we had to talk about other things going on that were far more interesting. Other topics include space lasers conspiracies, Tomino comment on the Jews, women in the military, RIP Lieutenant Guns, people who fund global wars and more.
(42:45 – 1:56:10) “Where is this anime going, where did this anime come from?” Super Dimensional Century Orguss Review: Listeners might take this review from Jonn as an enraged ramble about this show, but deep down we both secretly love it. Will this convince Dustin to check out the show and get it off his Bluray shelf? We shall see in a future time and place. This show is a fun ride and even funner review, and we hope we can convince you to watch it. Blended in this is our brief reviews on God Mazinger, Dual Parallel Trouble Adventure and Giant Gorg. Our blended Closing remarks include: Dustin getting his niece into Gundam, the recently recycled “What Gundam to Watch” article on ANN (and Dustin first ever forum post), RIP Akira Toriyama and Toonami.
Music Selection:
OP – This song might be the only thing good from this anime…
ED – The greatest anime opening of all time, fight us on that!
