AoY Podcast #28 – BanzaiCon 2013 Talkback

Also known as: ” Man, whats dis? I can’t do nothin wit toys!”

In the state of South Carolina at this time of year, there are 3 main events that will take place: College Footbal season, hunting season, and Rednecks that are obsessed with both of those things at the same time. But, their is one element that got looked over, that deep in the heart of Gamecock territory, lies an event where people outside those main festivities come to make one of their own. That event is BanzaiCon, a once a year mass of nerds as they congregate and fill the halls of the Marriot hotel in downtown Colombia SC. I had to tread on such event…. because I had panels and nerd stuff to show.

BanzaiCon was a fun way to kill a Saturday other than doing university homework and slipping into that mayhem of my academic responsibility. Even though I was there for one day, it was worth my time to showcase the panels I did for this event, which were Gundam-ology 101: Gundam for Beginners and the dreaded 18+ panel (that was an almost packed panel room) “What the Heck? Moments in Anime”. But like any good con adventure, this was also filled with my failed attempts to hit on cosplayers, meeting up with people and chillin, people who got their stuff jacked in the parking deck, car issues, getting to talk to VA’s, cats that ruin podcast recordings, and a whole lot more stuffed into this episode.
