AoY Podcast #88 – Batman v Superman Review

Also known as: “MARTHAAAAAH!”

Download Episode HERE! (Total Time: 2:09:22)

We might be a tad late on getting our review out, but better late than never, even if it is about a movie that came out last month. This time, we have our podcast in two segments in an A-Team and B-Team review of Batman v. Superman.

(0:00 – 1:47:02) Movie Review: A-Team – Here we have our notable comic book film critics Jonn, Daft and Tee Why, who all three saw the movie opening night, and recording the day after about their thoughts on the film. This of course was bringing into discussion on other comic book properties that will be coming out (or not), and you get to hear their views on that.

(1:47:02 –  2:09:22) Movie Review: B-Team – This was a recording done about two weeks after the A-Team covered the movie, this time with Dustin and Sean Ryan. This was really for another recording for a school project Dustin was doing, but to warm up the mics Dustin had to get his hard hitting opinions out there about what he witnessed the night before. This also contains general talk on politics and whatever towards the end.

AoY Podcast #73 – Taking on Indiegogo Perks #1 (The Legend of Black Heaven Review)

Also known as: “Hard Rock TO SAVE TEH SPACE!”

Hey, remember when we used to do anime reviews? Yea, the gang vaguely remembers doing them also. But hey, were back on the anime beat, and this time we start to cover those Indiegogo perks we promised at the early part of the year. This time we got a request from Sean Ryan from the Alpha Counter podcast to issue us the most rockin anime out there, The Legend of Black Heaven.

Again, we don’t need no time codes for this episode, since it was Zeonic and Sean sitting in the middle of a back ally hallway of the Marriott late Saturday night during Animazement. This is also where frequent con goers and hotel staff kept coming by us during the recording, which was near the most desired restroom in the entire hotel mind you, so you’ll hear zingers of that at the end of the episode. The Legend of Black Heaven is an anime Zeonic has always heard good things about over the years, and finally had the chance to watch and thoroughly enjoy this OVA. Even though Black Heaven is more relatable to people reaching their Logan’s Run age expiration date and beyond, anyone can pick up this title and enjoy it, wither you are musically inclined or not. This would also be this podcast second review of anime based off music, since our first one was about To-Y 2 years ago. Of course, you can expect some “sidebar” discussions about anime Terry Crews, talking about music in general, how american football is really “handegg,” Masters of the Universe movie synopsis, and Zeonic gets the hiccups. All this and much more in this this weeks episode…

Music Selection:

OP – Get ready to go backstage with Zeonic and Sean

ED – The moral of this anime is, don’t start a band…

This show has:

Dunno why Zeonic first thought of anime Terry Crews was in Friday After Next, but that is how his pimp mind works sometimes…

And you wonder why the Japanese have a hard time understanding Americans…

In general, AMV’s are the worst way to promote a show to make someone think it’s going to be great. However, this AMV is an exception, just go see Black Heaven already.

Per request by Sean Ryan…

AoY Podcast #59 – At The Animoovies: The Guyver (with Special Guest: Sean Ryan)

THE-GUYVER

Also known as: “I WANT THAT GUYVEN JIVIN THANG…. BOEEEYY!”
and also: “This is how Sean wins Boyfriend of the Year!”

This review was a long time coming, even before Jonn and Zeonic started this podcast. This is also the first movie review of the year, which does tie into an anime by the same name, so were not that off our beat guys!! Of course the gang can’t do this film review alone, and had to reach out to Sean Ryan from the Alpha Counter podcast to form our own beatbox gang as we journeyed our way through the L.A. ghetto with the 1991 film, The Guyver.

(0:00 – 52:25) Animoovie Review: The Guyver: This film comes from a time in the 1990’s when film companies got licenses (or didn’t more than likely) to anime titles in order to adapt them into live action format with the shoe-string budgets they had to work with. The results varied (mostly poor), but this film seemed to be that first pioneer from manga to the film reel in America. With Zeonic, Jonn and Sean forming our hip hop gang, we trek through the film encountering rapping monsters, corrupt CEO’s, making things work by bashing your head onto them, taking 8 hours to get lunch, how NOT to fight, and Luke Skywalker working for the G Man. We do our best to stay on topic, but run into trouble when it comes to certain off topic agendas.

(52:25 – 1:06:42) Closing Remarks: There was nothing short about wrapping up our podcast, not when we discuss the latest news about Chris Chan Guerrilla War against Sega, Sean trip to Orlando, and Zeonic calling out Regan.

(1:06:42 – 1:15:41) Bonus Material: This was even more off-topic stuff that Zeonic just left at the end for a stinger, which included people who can’t use headphones, and finding out what films Paul Chapman has reviewed. All this and more in this weeks episode.

OP – When you see text scrolling, you know your in for a treat…

AoY Podcast #17 – The Hangover Cast 2013 (Animazement & Phoenix Comic Con Talkback)

HANGOVER CAST copy

Also known as: “Hey, you guys need to take that to the bathroom!”
Or could be known as: “DUDE, WHERE’S MY CAR?!?!”

Memorial Day weekend is a time to remember the brave men and women in our military armed forces who fight for our country, so that we can enjoy this nation’s liberties to heart. That same liberty applies to anime fans and fellow nerds alike in America also, because Memorial Day is also a nation wide convention weekend. With so many cons happening at the same time, my co-host Jonn and I decided to take in the sights of near local conventions that were a drive away. Jonn went to the Phoenix Comic Con, and I took the journey to Animazement.

Animazement for me has, and always will be, an adventurous weekend in it of itself. The con every year let’s me experience and see things that I probably normally should and should not see on a daily basis. My adventures include meeting people, catching up with fellow podcasters, seeing the sights, bailing my ride out of the impound lot, getting into virtual fights, giving a little review on Urusei Yatsura: Only You and a hell of a lot more. You could say it’s like its own The Hangover movie… minus most of the crazy stuff that happens, to that extreme of a level. Jonn also tells his tale of running into bootleg anime vendors and a neglected VA guest. So, let me tell of the days of high adventure…

Here is the Animazement photo’s I took while at the con!!
