Here’s to our end of 2024/beginning of 2025 podcastravaganza episode, combining out last recording with three other recordings made in the spring/summer of 2024 that never made it out in the time they were supposed to come out, because well, dumb reasons.
(0:00 – 1:39:08) Section A: Convention Recap, TV Series Talkback – It just works better to segment our discussions into these sections since it’s another big block episode anyways, so whatever. This gets into Internet Archive being down back in September of 2024, Jonn talks about someone passing out in a movie, Dustin being invovled with TigerCon 2024, Getting to chaperone with Voice Acting legends Dan Woren and Tiffany Grant, USA anime company talks, Dustin regards his tales of getting through a Property Management course for work, the 2024 Election Results talk, John concludes his crazy neighbors story arc, Jonn goes to a Mesa Toy Con, The Penguin and Severance TV series review and much more in the middle.
(1:39:08 – 3:39:22) Section B: The “Freeform Episode” Talk – This was our recording from sometime in late May of 2024, where it’s old-as-heck news now regarding Trump’s conviction discussion and how that’s going to effect the 2024 election (I don’t need to say more than that). This also gets into Jonn review of Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Freedom in theaters, Dune 2 and some Miyazaki film talk. Also included is the Toru Fuyura scandel, late night TV talk, the Nick Rekita online drama, how Youtube celebraties are trash, and much more.
(3:39:22 – 5:14:45) Section C: Summer 2024 Movie Reviews, Momocon 2024, and Mr. Jonn’s Sketchy Neighborhood Drama – This was the somewhat part 2 of the last recording we did, but this time we highlight the major beginnings of Jonn sketchy neighbors shenanigans back in June of 2024. Dustin talks about his highlights from Momocon, Jonn goes to a local toy con, and finding a cool Gundam tape from Otaku Joe’s. We also talk about Furiosa, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the Resident Evil films, Micheal Bay filmography, the music of Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad, certain people in the video ripping/archive community, and much more!
(5:14:45 – 6:56:52) Section D: “Pissing Around” Con Review Episode – This was recorded late spring of 2024 where Jonn and Dustin talk about SC Comicon and another Con in Phoenix, AZ. This gets into talking about future travel plans that never materialized, collecting stuff we find at conventions, Dustin meeting Meeting Eddie Deezen in the most “intersting” way possible, how Chris Chan was kicked out of a con in Raleigh, NC; Star Trek and classic SciFi TV shows talk, The Eltingville Club talk, the solar eclipse of 2024 and much more.

This is a HORRENDOUSLY belated con review going back to July of 2023, but better to end the year on such a con story as this. This is in all honesty of why the city of Memphis is the place it is today, and Dustin cannot tell the con story without telling his own first hand accounts in Memphis.
(0:00 – 1:23:50) “This (con) ain’t better than DisneyLand” Anime Blues Con Declassified: The goal is to get this podcast out before Dustin heads to Anime Weekend Atlanta (which absolutely did not happen), fortelling the events that happened 6 months ago, so here we go. Highlights include meeting THE Dr. Rockso cosplayer, dealing with Memphis humidity, having the WORST. CUSTOMER. SERVICE. EVER at your local Wendy’s in the hood, the overhype of Beale Street, con attendees stories, seeing your work in the anime industry in the dealers room, the last to leave the convention, going to a Whataburger, Memphis being the Piss Ally of the south, being threated at gunpoint on the road leading to Memphis, bad joke telling, going to Bucee’s in Tennessee, and much more.

This idealy was supposed to come out before Christmas, then on Christmas Day maybe, but none of that happened. Dustin Christmas weekend was a s***show day to say the least. Our real Christmas special will come out on the next episode, which in turn is really our 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY of doing this. 10 years of failed promises, broken dreams, lowered expectations, and somewhere in the middle of that is a review of Japanese cartoons somewhat. This time its a con report from the end of October at Atlanta, so enjoy that!
