AoY Podcast #26 – Kickstart-ing a Fall Anime Season 2013
Also known as: “Wait, how does… oh its Chuck Norris!”
This is another episode of nothing really to review, but a few things to talk about. Jonn and I are aware of the Fall 2013 anime season, and decided to talk about some of the shows that might interest us and others to stay away from. But, we first bring up big news on AnimEigo Kickstarter for Bubblegum Crisis on BluRay, and some of the backstory as to how it got out “too the public” per se. I also mention some differences between the Tokyo 2040 and OVA dubs.
We also mention Gundam stuff, movies that are coming out, stuff that we have bought recently, Walking Dead Season 3 on Netflix, me playing with our new family kitten (ie telling it to stop being a cat as I was recording), and me pigging out on Domino’s Pizza during the recording (which is why I sound like such a fatty). All this and more in this weeks podcast.

This show has:

It became the “pizzacast” on my end… totally worth it…
Best Pokemon anything EVER!!!!
This describes our new cat pretty well…
Ah, the Pizzacast. I must be at the right place.
I will definitely put some money towards Bubblegum Crisis. I actually don’t own it.
Yeah, Harlock came out about a month ago. I realized this because I follow Tim Eldred’s Star Blazers page on Facebook. haha. He took some pictures when he went to Japan. They’re dubbing the Harlock movie, so they’re going to do SOMETHING with that movie in English.
I need to watch Build Fighters. I feel like I’m obligated to watch it.
I think old kits are cool. Well, mostly for the boxes. I’m not an expert modeler so I would probably butcher them. The plastics then were really “cheap” and fragile, even kits from the mid-90’s and early 2000’s. Gundam Model Kits have really come a long way, they’re like action figures now.
I’m enjoying Kill La Kill, but I’m trying to keep myself away from anime fandom to ruin my watching experience. haha. Other things I want to see this fall are: Samurai Flamenco, Hajime no Ippo(still haven’t seen any of seasons 1 and 2). Still haven’t seen plenty of things from the summer season yet either.
I really, really wanna watch Giant Corg. I hear its almost done being completely subbed.
lol thanks for the spoilers censorship. I haven’t watched the walking dead since Season 2’s mid-season finale. Think I might pick it up again whenever I’m done watching Twin Peaks.

I actually tried out “CarCast” this past week, where I recorded a podcast in my car for I guess one the next episodes for Regan’s Anime 82 podcast. Filled with nothing but pauses, making fun of South Carolina and complaining about State Troopers not pulling me over.
If you click the link below the image of Giant Gorg, it takes you straight to the subbers website who’s doing the series. Ill get to ep 2 sometime in the future.
I’m mostly done with season 3 of Walking Dead, and SOOOO many people “in season characters” have died. There is already another black character to replace the black character that replaced the one I bleeped out, all in like 5 episodes. They did the same with a “potential” love interest, because another main character came back to the group. Don’t rush watching it, just because season 4 airs on Sunday.
Im gonna watch Build Fighters in the next week or so (from sage subs) once I get Pokemon the Origin out of the way. I’m halfway through watching that, and should finish it this weekend. Kill la Kill, im gonna wait and see how that turns out, since I saw ep one on a stream last saturday night someone was showing. Its…. got things I like and things that are dumb. But this proves my idea behind Gainax, they keep making stuff people want to dig deeper and get more meaning out of, and they are the only company that I know of that has those kinds of fans. And im not talking about just Evangelion either. Tumblr has an idea about it: http://busterbeam.tumblr.com/post/63455153177/zero-comprehension-kill-la-kill-ep-1-i-suppose-the
Yea, ill get old kits if there next to nothing to buy for my enjoyment. Ive done that with a Macross 7 kit a few years ago because the comic shop was asking like 2 bucks for it, and I took it. Lets just say I got what I paid for, which is about right.
Yea, the Harlock movie in english sounds pretty sweet. If I had to get another DVD set from DIscotek that wasn’t there to complete Fist of the North Star, its gonna be Harlock. But… I do wanna see the rest of Devilman, Cutey Honey and Mazinger Z. They have the trinity of Go Nagai series, I think they are set as a company at this point.

Wow, I didn’t know there was a Kickstarter for Bubblegum Crisis on blu-ray. I just got the original on DVD earlier this year. I’ll have to decide if I want to double-dip or not.
I can’t believe I didn’t hear about this, as often as I’m around Kickstarter with Shantae: Half-Genie Hero and Mighty No. 9. The Shantae HD project is doing well, but it would be cool with more playable characters like that cutie zombie Rottytops.

Aaaand the 2nd game, Shantae: Risky’s Revenge is FREE on iOS if you wanna try it. It’s better with buttons on the DSi or 3DS, but it’s FREE on iOS for a limited time!

If you guys like Wayforward at all, the Shantae series is excellent. The 3rd one, Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse, comes out in a few months on 3DS. The 4th one, Half-Genie Hero, comes out in October 2014 on nearly everything including Steam.
