Also known as: “It’s Always Sunny in Pacific Rim”

So we got some leftovers I have been saving for quite a while now, and it’s time I shared the stench with you guys. But sometimes, old things don’t smell so bad, or not all of it at least. We got two reviews way past their expiration date, Dark Solder D and Pacific Rim (or what I wanna call “PacRim”!!)
My Dark Solder D review was originally recorded back in December 2012 (I believe), and was submitted for the last part of Regan’s Anime 82 Mecha Madness podcast to see if he would take this live action mecha atrocity to heart. Well, he gave a brief “NO MAN, NOT GONNA HAPPEN!” on that episode, so the recording (and this post i’m writing on) just sat in the vault till it was needed. But now, that time has come.
If I told you that Dark Soldier D wasn’t offensive to the senses in some way, I would commit one of the worst crimes against humanity. With shooting giant chickens in the ass with an M60 machine gun, brains floating in jars that have speech devices, mad Russians, hooking up with a girl that steals your crap, limbs a flying and much more, you can bet your in for the 3 episode ride of your life.
We then move on to the greatest anime-to-live-action adaptation that wasn’t off an anime, which makes PacRim the best anime of 2013! Both Daft and I were on this recording back when the movie came out in theaters as we each give our own personal views on the movie (and before we got 1 star rating that I found out later that came from Daft on iTunes for some dumbass hipster reason.) Pacific Rim will release your inner child for an hour and a half, with a sense that you have a plastic robot in your hand as you watch the coolest fights break out on the big screen. With the movie out on DVD/BluRay, you should have already bought the thing by now, or you will for Christmas. Either way, get it!
This also gets us to talk about Comic book movie talk, me discussing the Wolverine movie (SPOILERS), toy talk, anime to live action talk, how PacRim is not Evangelion, “Bay”Formers talk, the marketing reasons behind 3D movies now, and much more.

This show has:
Well, this seems to appeal to other people tastes than mine…

I am sure fanfics of this have already started to appear on the internet by now…

Dude, I would totally be pimpin in dos things
Dark Soldier D sounds like quite a TV show.. Dude’s video review adds even more to the bizarreness.
Comparing Pacific Rim to Giant Robo? I dunno man, Giant Robo is more comparable to The Justice League than anything. I guess I can understand if they’re comparing them in the way they both take basic robot anime elements and put them in a grand scale but that’s about it.
Pacific Rim rules so hard. My theatre also only had it for like for like two weeks.. My sister and I were the only ones in the theatre to see it the afternoon it came out..
Wolverine was definitely the best Wolverine movie by far. Lots of fun. Especially that bullet train scene.
Daft left you guys a 1 star review. That’s hilarious.
Another great podcast, dudes.

That video showed everything you need to know about Dark Soldier D. Its also funny that is the only youtube review about it, and my own review is like one of 5 on the internet that I know about.
The Giant Robo comparison comes from the guys who do the Daily Anime Podcast, since Andy was the first to make that comparison when they reviewed it on their podcast, however long ago. I still need to see all of Giant Robo, even though I have it all on DVD, and one ep on laserdisc, and the Genrei Special on DVD.
I really did like this Wolverine movie/X Men movie. I liked First Class, but it wasn’t to my total liking, other than Micheal Ironside being a navy captain at the end.
Yea, Dafts and idiot, but at least that review doesn’t hurt our iTunes review too badly, because we don’t have enough to make an average at this point.

THANK YOU! Pacific Rim is NOT Evangelion. My friends and I keep saying the movie’s not trying to be Evangelion to another friend who’s also an Eva fan. He refuses to watch it because he thinks it was trying to be something it wasn’t. Shame, it was a fun ride. I thought it just was what it was, no more no less. I listen to this soon.

I was trying not to be a parrot to everything Paul Chapman (Greatest Movie Ever Podcast) was saying on the film in his own review, but everyone on the damn facebook was like “Yea, its like Evangelion!” Its like “no, its not peeps!” PacRim does borrow things here and there to make it its own thing, the same thing like Eva did when people compare it to Ideon/Ultraman. If anything its one big homage to a lot of robot anime from the 70’s/80’s without trying to show it too hard. I was hoping it would add something from Robot Jox, especially the part of the robo chainsaw penis. That’s about all I remember from Robot Jox, other than they fight in space. OH WAIT PACRIM DOES THE SAME THING TOO, BECAUSE IT CAN!!!
