AoY Podcast #7 – Aliens: Colonial Marines Review

Aliens_Colonial_Marines_Cover

Also known as: “I say we take off and nuke this game from orbit…”

This week, I sit down and talk about my major malfunction about Gearbox latest (failure) game, Aliens: Colonial Marines. This is pretty much about an hour of me acting like a 5 year old who whined and complained to my co-host about how a game I have been looking forward too for so long, sucked more than it should. I should also mention that I give some SPOILERS about the game story, so if you haven’t played this game yet and you haven’t been influenced by the internet not to buy it, then don’t listen to this. We also talk briefly about the Alien movie series towards the end.

Rating: 6/10

Timegate also did the “Section 8” sci-fi shooter games, which were okay in a generic way. People said they were like Tribes, but I think that’s just because everyone had a jetpack, and even then all you did with the jetpack was jump really high. I bought the second game on a sale where you could get like four copies plus all the DLC for like fifteen bucks, and I think I got about that much enjoyment out of it. (Oh, and I still have two copies to give away.)

And no, the single-player of S8 was nothing to write home about. “Here is a map. There are enemies sprinkled about it, and they mostly stand still and shoot their guns at you until either you die or they do. Kill them all to clear the checkpoint.”

    • Looking at the cover of Section 8, I said to myself “Oh yea, I’ve seen that game on shelves, that I would always glance over for a better game.”

Other than this game, there is nothing that Time Gate has made that I have played. I was going to say FEAR but they seemed to have done some expansion packs to the game, and I have only played the first FEAR demo long ago.

Well, I hope you enjoyed the podcast, since your the only person to comment since we started.

  2. You did “look” at the beta edition of this game right? I mean the actual release wasn’t even the same engine. The beta was better that that actual product,
